GIVE ME BACK MY SELF RESPECT!

(Ali Imran, BioTech Peshawar)

There is a famous quote that respect is for those who deserve it, not for those who demand it. Because respect is earned that is not gained by power or money. Earned by soft image. Earned by KHUDI. By knowing your strength, your rights, dreams, courage, velour, and patriotism. It is improved by giving respect to others, making good relations, distributing love, peace and humbleness. Self dependency, unity, discipline are the characteristics respected by the nations of the world. When you are taking stand for your cause, caring about your people, and protecting miserable instead of cruel and powerful you will definitely be respected. Today we have lost our self respect as a nation. Terrorists, Jihadis, international beggars, honor killers of women, and champions of child labor are the few awards we have been awarded by the rest of the world. This is not the propaganda spread, but the reality which is crystal clear from internal conditions of Pakistan. The story of ethnicity, cruelty, cultural conflicts, lust for power, crushing poor and awarding rich is face to face to all of us. The loss of values, self centeredness, thirst of blood, hunger of money, distances from religion, forbidding the laws of Allah are the root causes which has bring us down as a nation.

As Allama Iqbal said, that Allah had never changed the conditions of those nations which had put no effort to change themselves. So if we want back our self respect. Then we have to improve our character individually which will then lead to make us a respectable nation in the world. We have to start it from the grass root level, by making our education strong, spreading love and peace and make a soft image of our country. We need leaders to lead us. We need volunteers to serve for our country. Patriotism should be the main subject and aim of our education. Cooperation, help of poor, respect of elders, and tightly holding the rope of Allah should be the main objectives of our people. All the stake holders should be sincere to this country or forced to do so. Mullahs have to teach humbleness, love and peace instead of putting oil to the fire. Standing together as one nation for a cause, making our foreign policies better, friendly relations to the neighbors, all these will boost our self respect. When we will be united as a nation no one will have the courage to disrespect our sovereignty and dignity.

As Julie Garwood once said “Respect was earned, not demanded, but dignity was taught by example”.
