Balochistan problem as I see to day
(Hashim Ali Siddiqui, Karachi)
                Balochistan is HALF Pakistan in
general with respect to area.Generally province is not as disturbed as projected
by the media.People of the area are loving and respectful.Mostly they love the
country as i witness at Quetta. Disturbance do exist in pockets of Khuzdar,
Turbat and Punjgoor.I think Khuzdar is not that serious and is controllable.I am
more worried about Mekran Division. Turbat and Punjgoor are part of Mekran
division. Mekran division is under civil administration and is totally void of
regular armed forces.Though FC and other law enforcing agencies are doing their
job yet room for improvement exist.
Mekran is a big piece of land.It requires large force to control. In my opinion
if we could move an Independent Brigade strength each to Turbat, Panjgur, Pasni,
Gawadar, Mand and Ormara all problems will die down.
My demand is too much under the existing situation of the armed forces. It comes
to two divisions. An up hill task.We may reduce it as per the existing
requirement but without meeting my demand peace will not come.
General Pervez Musharaf was working on these lines.New cantonments were also
constructed but after him the political persons abandoned all the program and
the area was left unattended .
Let us hope our Defense Minister could do some thing good. His sole
responsibility is to make good all the requirement of man power and other
materials of war as per authorization and future development for the armed
forces.I am sure our defense minister must be taking keen interest in this
regard and will edge out each and every corner to meet the authorized
requirements of Armed forces in the supreme national interest.
