Indian Dogmatism towards its nuclear neighbor Pakistan

The Region South Asia is conflict prone and volatile in nature. The two main nuclear states i.e. India and Pakistan have history of conflicts with each other .Number of Confidence building measure-CBMs were signed by both states, but relations remained shaky throughout the history, as soon as relation became smooth or somewhat normal, a single incident ruinseverything. Since 1947 till date,Kashmir Water,Siachin and Sircreek have been the bone of contention between both states. This has undermined all the peace efforts. Musharaff have to put in his own efforts to initiate proper CBMs in 2004,hoping that relations between both will improve now but all went in vein after Mumbai attacks. There are several aspects which can be analyzed in the wake 0fIndia’s recent violation vis-à-vis LoC

India is accustomed to violate ceasefire at LoC and violating international border just to provoke Pakistan for retaliation, now if Pakistan will retaliates there are chances that on other side of border Kashmiri Muslims would be killed which will again create an impression in minds of Kashmiri’s that Pakistan is killing them and is promoting terrorism this will benefit India while Pakistan will be at losing end in both conditions. India has propagated on Kashmir issue in such a way on international level that whenever Pakistan discuss Kashmir issue it seems that it is not supporting freedom movement rather terrorism mixed it up with terrorism that now it’s a common perception build on international level wherever the name of Kashmir is taken its not perceived as their freedom movement rather it’s perceived as terrorism and Pakistan is being blamed for it.

To destabilize Pakistan India never miss any chance, whenever some important development occurs in Pakistan India escalates tension on borders. We have an example of 1971.Again India is supporting terrorist groups in Baluchistan and all the extremists who are running those separatist movementstake refuge in India and they give statements against Pakistan.Pakistanon the other hand is fighting the largest counter terrorism war, the Op Zarb-e-Azb is under way which has seen a plight of IDPs to look after, last the country is passing through political turmoil. In this situation Pakistan Army is already quite stretched so India started creating tension at borders which will again put burdon on Army and its attention will be diverted from operation and internal issues. If Political leadership takes decision to deploy Army on eastern border it will create more problems in settled issue and it might give chance to terrorists to re-group and get united, which in return will give a massive blow to Operation Zarb-e-Azb.
AfterUS withdrawal from Afghanistan India wants to keep her position by replacing her forcesnear Pak border. She has already established number of training camps and consulates in Afghanistan near Pakistan border which should be a cause of serious concern forPakistan. After US withdrawal India might be able to create tension on both Eastern and Western borders. There are 18 Indian consulates in Afghanistan. India is using them for creating instability inBaluchistan.India is very much disappointed to see Abdul Ghani as the President of Afghanistan. There is a great difference between Hamid Karzai and Abdul Ghani.Chuck Hagel’s testimony before senate is worth reading. He said, that“we must stop India for meddling in Pakistan’s affairs from western borders for durable peace in South Asia.”

Moodi won election over his stance against Pakistan and by labeling Muslims as terrorists. Moodi is perusing RSS agenda in current tension at LoC. ThereforeIndian’s foreign policy is totally against Pakistan. They raised anti-Pakistan slogans during their election campaign. RSS and other militant groups are pressurizing Indian Govt to corner Pakistan.

Certain possible solutions can be adapted by both states to dilute the tense situation. As both the states are nuclear powers and if tension escalated it will bring catastrophic results. Another round of CBMs should be promoted to create enabling environment for both the states to negotiate on their conflicting issue starting from Kashmir issue which is bone of contention between both states.

What India needs to comprehend is that Pak Army will not Compromise on State sovereignty, and continuous exchange of fire between both nuclear states on eastern borders can lead towards serious situation. International powers should play affective role as mediators by placing independent observers on eastern border and whosoever violates the ceasefire should be addressed with economic penalties. However, Pakistan’s Policies towards India are still not clear as our political leadership is not taking clear stance against Indian blatant aggression.

We should diplomatically deal with India, even use of force and diplomacy can be used simultaneously but it requires proper tactics. When our leaders visited India and gifted them clothes (Shawls or Sarhi’s) at that time Indians wereengaged in opening ceremoniesof a proper Alpine Core which they established to counter Pakistan and china because India Shares only one border on mountains with China and Pakistan, so this is the way they are taking care of their national interest while we haveprefer our personal interest over the national interest.

We should have discussed vision 20/25 with India rather than discussing other issues which would have given benefit to us. When they cancelled secretary level talks with us we should have called Abdul Basit back to Pakistan as its normal that our leaders meet Hurriyat leaders since decades, so what was strange if he met Kashmir’s there, this is called real diplomacy and the way of dealing things in diplomatic and tactical way.

Both the states are nuclear powers and this is for sure that both cannot afford any conflict because it will lead to mutual assured “MAD”destruction and further more to regional and international instability. This is the time to take issues seriously and to resolve them diplomatically which can benefit both of them but the need of hour is first they should resolve their differences and on win-win grounds they should sort out the solution of issues.
