Much like religion our english
teacher told us not to discuss politics while writing.
Never coconsidered voting, never gave a second thought why people belonging to
political parties would move around with security protocol. Back in the days
never watched cricket so I count have cared less about Iman khan leading us to
victor in the 92worlcup.
Until last year ignorance was bliss.
But this year, during elections, what was so different?
I ll tell you what's changes the youth. Sleeping beauties all over have awaken
from their castles.
Now when you hear youngsters talking and disscussing politics you won't hear
preconsidered opinions of Talat Hussain or Mubashir Luqman, you'll hear them
spinning facts left, rigt and center at each other. People, now know who they'll
vote for and why.
We, today are the generation of technology; friend betrayed you, had a break up
or feeling down, your facebook status is your "dear dairy". Ongoing school
matches or football games, hashtag that team spirit on twitter.
People the world us at your fingertip, you must take advantage of it. They say
love is blind so is political support. When the government wants to keep you
sheltered we must educate our selves.
I remember asking every single person i met during the election darma who are
they voting, its not there choices which were a shock to me its their reasoning
for their choices which was rather a shock
The fore runners battling out in the political arena this year.
We've got PML-N, the lions of punjab Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, that is
still busy bragging about their nuclear blasts' glory and the work they did for
Punjab in numerous ways. But can we forget that these are same people who
laundered monstrous amounts of money and are major tax defaulters.
The other side of this coin were saviours of masses or so they claim to be. PPP
.. Our sentimental people have fallen for there sympathy on the death of
Zulifaqar Bhutto n Benzair Bhutto. A party that likes to latch onto our
sentimental "awaam" and uses the "Roti kapra and makan " strategy. They promise
to help the poor and the very existence of their party depends on keeping the
poor, poor.. The so called "people's party" rather than playing with the
emotions of the people, what have they done for the people. A party that uses
the name of Bhuttos as a TRADEMARK for votes...
I dont even know what MQM is up to... A poltical party that works in Pakistan
but operates from a contitent that is almost 4000 miles away. A thief is a
thief, whether you take money that is not rightfully yours through "bhatta" or
you acquire it through other unlawful means. There is alot of noise that MQM's
done a lot for Karachi. If so, why can't I see it. I mean rather than Altaf
Hussain controlling Karachi from London and giving threats what has he done for
Karachi. Its been almost two years now since target killing started in Karachi.
If Karachi really matters to MQM why hasnt it done anything about it.
On the other end we've got our Imran Khan. PTI comprises of educated
individuals, from corporate giants like Asad Umar to tactful politicians who
have been in the game for far longer, such as Javed Hashmi, who have all come
forward promising a Naya Pakistan. Imran Khan's recognized for his charm all
over the world and according to people and BBC he is not politician but he is a
true LEADER. But does he have what it takes to be a politician? Will his
inexperience work in his favour or he'll fall flat on his face. Imran khan's
government in KPK can be successfull reveiwing his budget this year.
Whether it was a stroke of luck, somehow, the masses of the youth is speaking up
now. Bhutto is not PPP and Imran Khan is not PTI. Voting and elections is not
supporting the leader you admire. It should be using resources available to you
and find out which party's goals you believe in. Read their respective policies
. See which one calls out to YOU. Make a well-informed decision regarding who
you're voting for, one that you can look back on without any regrets.Learn about
the candidates contesting in the elections from your area. This is what
elections should be, because in the end its US who choose a government who will
shelter us for the next five years.
Because now is the time to break free from the shackles of this so called
democracy.
