The geographic location of
Yemen has become a cause of its anarchy. The inner situation is not purely due
to the local or native inhabitants of this heaven like country. The external
forces are destroying it for overt and covert reasons. It is an Arab country in
Southwest Asia and the second largest country in the Arabian Peninsula,
occupying 527,970 km2. Saudi Arabia to the north, the Red Sea to the west, the
Gulf of Aden and Arabian Sea to the south, and Oman to the east is its
geographical location. Socotra is the largest of 200 islands constituting Yemen.
The conflict ridden Yemen has been further divided into several different
factions throwing the country into severest kind of civil war. Muslims are
divided into Shia and Sunnis and both factions are at loggerheads since long.
Al-Qeda has become an old character. People all over the world are sick of this
fictional character. They have started thinking about the falsity of the
statements broadcasted by al-Qaeda. The boredom of the people is being released
by thrusting a new notion into their minds. That is the Shia-Sunni divide of
Muslims. The country was divided into North and South Yemen and was unified in
1990’s as republic of Yemen. Soon after the union the southern rebelled and
started a movement against unification. The 200 islands of Yemen comprise of 200
kinds of religious beliefs and standings. All these two hundred type of factions
are backed by 2000 kinds of interests.
Apparently the fight is between loyal forces of the besieged President,
Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi, and forces of Zaidi Shia rebels known as Houthis who
forced Mr Hadi to escape from the capital Sanaa . Yemeni forces are split, some
units supporting Mr Hadi, and others the Houthis and Mr Hadi's predecessor Ali
Abdullah Saleh. Mr Hadi has support of the Sunni south of the country whose
militia known as Popular Resistance Committees and also local tribesmen.
The situation becomes perplexed and this does not happen naturally but with some
methos by the vested interests that both President Hadi and the Houthis are
opposed by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. AQAP is there or not it has been
set against both the Hadi and Houthis. The situation is further perplexed by the
involvement a jihadist group Islamic State. The groupd is being propagated as
the stauch oppose of AQAP as it has claimed a series of suicide bombings in
Sanaa in March 2015.
What have you understood of the Yemeni situation so far? Every faction is at
daggers drawn to every other, and this all is being done in the name of not
Al-Qaeda but Shia Sunni differences. Let us look it from another angle. A
coalition has been formed by the West and America which consists of Five Gulf
states, Jordan, Eqypt and Sudan. Look at the composition of the coalition. Gulf
States along with Saudi Arabia and Jordan are under the severe influence of
America. Eqypt, Morocco and Sudan are virtually being governed by America and
its allies. This coalition is backing Mr. Hadi to launch attacks on Houthis.
Then there is ISIS which will definitely want its share in politics because it
is essential part of strategy to involve all those forces which are being
propagated as the enemy of state and even the whole Erath dwellers.
West considers AQAP the most dangerous branch of al-Qaeda at this time because
it is politically needed . The US’s operations and drone attacks against AQAP in
Yemen are proving that it is the most dangerous thing on the face of earth. But
what is in the Houthis' advance against all odds? The answer is that the Shia
Houthis are also being backed by the West otherwise it would never be possible
for Houthis to advance an inch from their position. The conflict between the
Houthis and the elected government is also seen for regional power struggle
between Shia-ruled Iran covertly backed and overtly opposed by West and
Sunni-ruled Saudi Arabia overtly backed but covertly opposed by the West, which
shares a long border with Yemen.
Poor but tactically significant, the struggle for power in Yemen has serious
consequence for the region and the security of the Muslims all over the world.
There is always the same opinion which is propagated by the Western media. But
the reality is quite opposite to this propaganda. The Middle East is falling
down due to its reliance over the West. The analysis in this article reveals the
truth behind the entire scene. The geographical location of Yemen is in fact its
main enemy. Every stake holder wants monopoly over the affairs of Yemen. The Bab
al-Mandab strait, a narrow waterway linking the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden,
through which much of the world's oil shipments pass is the real cause of all
this. Egypt and Saudi Arabia which means America and West fear a Houthis
takeover would threaten free passage through the strait.
