LAHORE: The prime suspect in the Ameer Balaj Tipu murder case was allegedly killed by his own accomplices in Lahore on Friday, according to ARY News, citing police sources.
The suspect, Ahsan Shah, was being transported by the CIA to Lahore's Shadbagh area for evidence recovery when the incident occurred. Police reported that Shah's brother, Ali Raza, and other unidentified accomplices opened fire on the police convoy.
Ahsan Shah was struck by bullets fired by his own associates and was being rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but he later succumbed to his injuries.
Ameer Balaj Tipu, the son of Arif Ameer, also known as Tipu Truckanwala—linked to the goods transport network—was fatally shot in what police have described as a targeted attack near Lahore’s Thokar Niaz Beg area on February 19.
According to police, the incident occurred during a wedding ceremony in a residential society near Thokar Niaz Beg. An armed assailant opened fire on Balaj Tipu, who had recently joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), killing him instantly. Two other people were injured by the gunfire, as confirmed by the police. The suspect was reportedly killed in retaliatory fire by Tipu’s gunmen.
