What Is Annapurna Yojana?
Annapurna Yojana is a women's financial assistance scheme. It is launched by the Government of West Bengal. It was officially notified by the Department of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, West Bengal in May 2026, via notification number 2411-WCD/O/AB-4/2026.
Under this scheme, eligible women receive ₹3,000 per month directly into their Aadhaar linked bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The first payments begin from 1 June 2026.
The scheme replaces the previous Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme. All existing Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries were automatically migrated to Annapurna Yojana from 1 June 2026. The earlier monthly amount has also increased to the new ₹3,000 per month.
Annapurna Yojana Verification – How It Works
The Annapurna Yojana verification process is structured and official. Here is how it works:
For Existing Lakshmir Bhandar Beneficiaries
All existing Lakshmir Bhandar beneficiaries were automatically migrated to Annapurna Yojana. No new application or verification was required from them. However, some beneficiaries were excluded from migration if they were:
- Found dead during government records update
- Shifted out of their registered address
- Deleted from electoral rolls
- Identified as absentee electors
- Found ineligible during any earlier verification drive
- Filed appeals before the SIR Tribunal
- Submitted applications under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act — these cases continue until the application is disposed of
If you were a Lakshmir Bhandar recipient and your payment stopped, it means your record was flagged under one of the above categories. Visit your nearest government office for clarification.
For New Applicants
New applicants who register through the Annapurna Yojana portal go through a formal government verification process.
- You fill in your details on the official portal and attach the required documents.
- A check is done by officials.
- In rural areas, Block Development Officers verify and then recommend eligible applicants.
- In urban areas, Sub Divisional Officers verify applications from their jurisdictions.
- After that, the application is approved and the applicant is added to the beneficiary list
- Once approved, ₹3,000 is transferred directly to your Aadhaar linked bank account every month.
