PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi first announced the PM Surya Ghar scheme on 22 January 2024, the same day as the Ayodhya Temple consecration, under the name PM Suryodaya Yojana. The scheme was later renamed PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and officially launched on 13 February 2024. Cabinet approval and full budget allocation (₹75,021 crore) came on 29 February 2024.

Launched on 13 February 2024, this scheme is administered by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and is implemented through the National Program Implementation Agency (NPIA) mode. The plan is to install rooftop solar systems in 1 crore homes by March 2027. This will allow each household to generate up to 300 units of free electricity every month.

  • Click on Apply Now.
  • Enter your mobile number. Complete captcha.
  • Verify the OTP and log in.
  • Click on Apply
  • Fill and submit the form.
  • DISCOM will approve your application.
  • Find a vendor list on the portal.
  • Choose a registered vendor and complete installation
  • Ask the vendor to share installation details.
  • Let DISCOM inspect your site.
  • Open the portal again. Submit your bank account details and a canceled check
  • The subsidy is credited to your bank account within 30 days.
