The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a Government of India housing scheme. It was launched on 25 June 2015 with the goal of giving every eligible Indian family a permanent, pucca house. The scheme runs under the motto "Housing for All."
The scheme has two main parts
- PMAY-Urban (PMAY-U) for people living in cities and towns.
- PMAY-Gramin (PMAY-G) for people living in rural areas and villages.
PMAY 2.0 is the updated phase of the scheme which runs until 2029.

- PMAY-Urban is managed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA)
- PMAY-Gramin is managed by the Ministry of Rural Development
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana List – How to Check
Checking the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana list tells you if your name has been approved or shortlisted as a beneficiary.
PMAY-Urban Beneficiary List
- Go to pmaymis.gov.in
- Click on "Search Beneficiary" from the menu
- Enter your Aadhaar number
- Click "Show"
- Your details and status will appear
The PMAY Urban list is updated by Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and state governments in phases. If your name is not appearing, it may be under re-verification. This is normal and usually resolves within a few weeks.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana List Check – Gramin (Rural List)
- Go to pmayg.dord.gov.in
- Click on "Awaassoft"
- Select "Report" from the dropdown
- Go to the "Social Audit Reports" section
- Click on "Beneficiary Details for Verification"
- Select your State, District, Block, and Gram Panchayat
- Select PMAY-G as the scheme name
- Enter the captcha and click "Submit"

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Online Apply
Here are the step-by-step Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana online apply methods:
For PMAY-Urban (City Applicants)
- Official portal: pmaymis.gov.in
- Visit pmaymis.gov.in on your phone or computer
- Click on "Citizen Assessment" from the top menu
- Choose "For Slum Dwellers" if you currently live in a slum
- Choose "Benefit Under Other 3 Components" if you belong to EWS, LIG, MIG-I, or MIG-II
- Enter your Aadhaar number
- Fill in the online form with your personal details
- Enter the captcha code, and click submit
- Save your application number. Use it to track your status later
Offline Option:
- Visit your nearest Common Service Centre (CSC).
- Apply with the help of the operator.
A nominal fee of ₹25 is charged at CSCs.
For PMAY-Gramin (Village Applicants)

Individual applicants cannot apply directly on the PMAY-G portal. Only authorized scheme officials can enter data into the system. Here is what you should do.
Option 1 – Awaas+ App
- Download the Awaas+ app from the official government site
- Complete Aadhaar or face based authentication
- Enter your household details
Option 2 – Contact Gram Panchayat
- Visit your local Gram Panchayat office.
- Ask the authorized surveyor to register your details in the AwaasSoft system.
This is the main method for rural applicants.

PMAY covers four income groups:

PMAY Subsidy Details
- Under PMAY-U 2.0, eligible families get an interest subsidy of up to ₹1.80 lakh on home loans.
- The subsidy is given at 4% on the first ₹8 lakh for families with income up to ₹9 lakh.
- The loan must be for a property worth up to ₹35 lakh.
- The subsidy is released in 5 equal yearly instalments.
Eligibility
You can apply for PMAY if you meet these conditions:
- You are an Indian citizen
- You or any member of your family does not own a pucca house anywhere in India
- You fall under the EWS, LIG, MIG-I, or MIG-II income category
- For EWS and LIG: the house must be in the name of a woman, or jointly with a woman
- You have not taken any benefit under any central government housing scheme before
- The applicant's maximum age generally should not exceed 70 years at the end of the loan repayment period
For PMAY-Gramin specifically:
- You must be from a rural area
- Your name must appear in the SECC (Socio-Economic Caste Census) 2011 data
- You must live in a kutcha house or have no shelter

- A self-declaration/affidavit stating that your family does not own a concrete, permanent house anywhere in the country
