Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Apply Online

PM Narendra Modi launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana on 24 February 2019 in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The scheme was initially announced in the Interim Budget 2019-20. It is a Central Sector Scheme. It is 100% funded by the Government of India. It provides direct income support to landholding farmer families in India.

It helps small and marginal farmers

  • Purchase agricultural inputs (such as seeds, fertilizers, and equipment).
  • Reduce their dependence on informal and high interest credit sources

The 22nd installment was released on 13 March 2026 from Guwahati. The 23rd installment is expected in June–July 2026.

How the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) Scheme Works

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme:

  • Eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 per year
  • It is paid in three equal installments of ₹2,000 every four months
  • The payment is made directly into the Aadhaar linked bank account of the registered farmer through Direct Benefit Transfer

Here is how it works:

  • The state government or Union Territory administration uploads farmer details to the PM Kisan portal.
  • The system validates records.
  • It takes them through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) for account validation.
  • Once verified, the central government sanctions and transfers the funds.
