Ingredients
  1. 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  2. 2 large onions, chopped
  3. 1 small hot pepper, finely chopped
  4. 8 cups water
  5. 1 cup split lentils, rinsed
  6. 2 teaspoons salt
  7. 1 teaspoon cumin
  8. 1 teaspoon ground coriander seeds
  9. 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  10. Pinch of saffron
  11. 2 Tablespoons white rice, uncooked
  12. 1/4 cup lemon juice
Method
  • 1.Heat oil in a saucepan and saute onions and hot pepper over
  • medium heat for 10 minutes.
  • 2.Add remaining ingredients, except lemon juice, and bring to
  • boil. Cover and cook over medium heat for 25 minutes.
  • 3.Puree; then return to saucepan and reheat.
  • 4.Stir in lemon juice; then serve.
  • Note: Cooking Time: 70-80 minuts, Serving: 4-5 persons
