Drain chick-peas from soaking water and put into a saucepan with fresh water. Bring to the boil, and simmer for 1 hour or until tender.
Meanwhile, make the dressing. Heat oil in a small frying pan, add onion, chilli and garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes. Stir in spices and cook for 1 minute. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Turn into a large bowl and stir in the yogurt.
Drain chick-peas, cool briefly then remove skins while still wan-n. Add to spice mixture and mix well. Leave to marinate for at least 2 hours. Serve garnished with the coriander.
