“SULTAN BAHOO THE LIFE AND
TEACHINGS” is known as the encyclopedia of the teachings of Sultan-ul-Arifeen.
It is a two part book based on the biography and teachings of the pre-eminent
Sufi saint, Muslim scholar and Sufi poet, Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan
Bahoo. Over 140 books are written by Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo
of which most are in Persian and in prose form as well as Persian odes and
Punjabi Abyat.
This book is the English translation of the original Urdu text called Shams-ul-Fuqara
(شمس الفقرا) written by Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman. So far, the book is
available in two languages: Urdu and English. It is the only book based on
Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo which entails a complete account of
the saint’s life and his teachings of Sufism also known as ‘Faqr’. It was
published in 2014 by Sultan-ul-Faqr Publications Regd. Lahore.
The initial chapters introduce the reader to basic biography of Sultan-ul-Arifeen
Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh and his journey of truth and
reality. The rest of the chapters are based upon his teachings in light of the
Quran and Hadiths. Hence, the book is divided in two parts i.e. biography and
teachings.
PART I:
The first part contains the detailed life history of Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat
Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh: his ancestry belonging to the Awan
tribe, his birth in Shorkot, Jhang, Pakistan, to his search for Murshid which
marks his struggle is all narrated in a categorical manner. His status and
miraculous deeds- Karamat -are revealed as well as his chosen disciples. From
his demise to his shrine and Urs, all the aspects of his worldly tenure have
been covered in this detailed book.
PART II:
The second half of the book contains all of the comprehensive teachings of
Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh with
references given from the Quran and Hadiths and books of other famous saints
that have a name in the history. The author has successfully compiled and
authenticated the teachings of Sultan Bahoo. This part contains the following

Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman is the 31st Shaikh of the Sarwari
Qadri Order. Having written a large number of books on Islamic spirituality, he
is known as one of the most popular contemporary Sufi authors of present age.
Since 14th of August 2005, he has made great efforts and taken revolutionary
steps to spread the teachings of the spiritual guides of the Sarwari Qadri Order
upon the entire Ummah. Soon, he realized that the teachings of Sultan-ul-Arifeen
Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh need to be spread among the
masses and transmitted specially to the new generation in a language understood
internationally. Hence, he took on himself the responsibility to translate,
republish and recompile Sultan Bahoo's books. The most important selected topics
of Sultan Bahoo's teachings are also translated in English language, keeping the
true spirit of his teachings alive. Under the supervision of the author, the
book was translated into English by Yasmin Khurshid Malik Sarwari Qadri Ambreen
Moghees Sarwari Qadri Neyn Tara Sarwari Qadri.
This book is the English translation of Shams-ul-Fuqara which is the original
Urdu text of this book. Shams-ul-Fuqara’s first edition was published in
December 2012. It contains more chapters in the Part II based on teachings. This
book is also available on various websites in the form of eBook.
