CHILD LABOUR IN ISLAMABAD,PAKISTAN

(Zain Ali, )

My nation’s sole bread earners that are supposed to be playing in grounds and parks after their hectic days in school are collecting fare on the local vehicles and rhyming the places the vehicle would go instead of A,B,C or poem like TWINKLE TWINKLE risking their life for a few hundred rupees as the state had been unable to provide for this kid and his family. It happens not far away but right in center of power where a government’s influence is supposed to be higher, its projection of power far more effective. A place that is supposed to be exemplary for other cities to follow. There lies the curse of child labor growing quite in freedom across its roads and streets challenging the writ of the government, while those innocent souls are violated on the roads. A cancer that is infecting the heart of Pakistan and very effectively endangering the future of Pakistan.

A government that has been able to complete developmental projects like METRO in quite a record amount of time couldn’t be regarded as ill equipped to handle this menace. Its definitely far down the pages of priority list [if there exist any] that has brought things to this verge. Such ignorance and a child like that above could become loss of a useful productive citizen and its not deniable that the surrounding he’s being left to grow in and many other kids like him also have a great potential of going on the wrong path hence affecting not only himself but also the very foundations of the society.

A state’s biggest resource upon which it can rely on if harnessed correctly is its population. With 47.94 % of population of the age 24 or below that offers a great potential if used correctly. These people when leave Pakistan in almost every aspect of life are capable and have proven themselves doing wonders. While in Pakistan they are sadly unable to deliver in accordance to their capabilities because the ground are their where they could prove themselves.

A state should must follow a vision and should be able to see beyond the barrier of five years and the people should also place child education and above road and infrastructural development. As its knowledge economics in the contemporary world that makes the real difference.
