FEMINISM IN ISLAM

(Aansa Laraib, Rawalpindi)

FEMINISM USUALLY MISUNDERSTOOD AS BEING AGAINST ISLAM BUT IN ACTUAL ISLAM IS THE BASE OF FEMINISM .... YOU WOULD BE WONDERING HOW???? THAT IS WHAT WE WILL BE TAKING ABOUT IN THIS BLOG .

The contextual meaning of Feminism is equal rights for women as men . So don't you think that Islam has already given this liberty. Do you witness any freedom any right given to women before the arrival of Islam? The answer is No. Women didn't even have the right to live , they were buried alive as they were born , they were considered as a matter of shame , they were not embraced even by their parents. It was Islam that gave women right to live ; it was Islam that gave women the freedom of life , freedom of speech and freedom of opinion. Isn't it Feminism , isn't it the equality ....... yes it is.

Today the concept of feminism is polluted and today's women have mistaken it and are doing the things far away from Islam. They are considering it as an oppression , a hurdle that stops them from getting success and development ; which is getting worse . They have forgotten about the Ladies of Islam ; Hazrat Khadija (r.a) , Hazrat Ayesha (r.a) and many more . They were the business women , scholars , Islam didn't stop them from doing so instead encouraged it. Besides this many people complain about the restrictions and limitations for women in Islam ; all those must know that Islam is the actual code of life and is set according to the needs and circumstances.

Then there are some people who oppose feminism in the name of religion , people how can you oppose something which is affirmed by your religion by your prophet. When Islam gives rights to women then how can you oppose . We need to stop being conservative towards Islam , we need to broaden our vision in the light of Islam and it's teachings.

Thus Islam is the only religion which supports the actual essence of Feminism , the actual saviour of women and their rights ; infact giving equal rights to both genders fulfilling the core purpose of FEMINISM.
