Importance of Army Chief’s Visit to USA II

Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir’s visit to United States of America was very important one in a sense that Pakistan wanted to make good relations with it and gives importance to it. This visit of COAS also reflects that United States of America also understands the importance of Pakistan and it is also in the interest of USA to make good relations with Pakistan and do not ignore it. USA wants Pakistan to engage at very high level. After withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan, its relations with Pakistan took a new turn and there is a need to reset and redefine these relations. Army Chief’s visit will pave the way for proceeding towards durable relations with USA creating win/win situation for both. In past Pakistan played very important role for United States especially mentioned to bring USA and China closer and paving way its relations with China and in future too, Pakistan can play such a positive and constructive role which is need of the time to build the foundation of durable global peace shaking hands for mutual cooperation and not to indulge in war.

Pakistan USA relations are not based on cold war era between Soviet Union and USA and new realities have been emerged and we have to keep in mind these new realities and adjust ourselves into these. America is going to elect its new government and Pakistan is also going to the process of elections on 8th February,2024. Whoever the new government will be there definitely it would have an agenda of economic and political stability before it, which Pakistan needs desperately

Israeli atrocities in Gaza jeopardized global peace and the war spread in the region from Palestine and Israel to Syria, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and to other countries. Situation in Red Sea is alarming and American interests are at stake. Ceasefire in Palestine is must otherwise it will sink economy of many countries including Israel. Pakistan is backing two nation theory of United Nations to resolve Palestine and Israel conflict which is balanced one and is a viable solution to restore peace in the region. USA must use its influence on Israel to proceed towards peace otherwise situation might be out of control. Pakistan can play a very positive and constructive role for peace and stability in the region and USA needs to support Pakistan.

There are many challenges regarding USA and Pakistan relations. United States of America’s first choice is India and it has strategic relation with it, but it should keep in mind that whatever is the role of India in Kashmir and its extreme policies of Hindutva, crushing Muslims, Christians and Sikh in India can turn situation like in Palestine any time specially its efforts to kill Sikh leader in Canada and attempt to murder Sikh leader in USA. America can not turn its eyes from these facts and sooner or later it has to realize the danger posed by Indian extremist policies which is proving catastrophic for global peace. USA needs to start peace process in subcontinent and use its influence on India to start negotiation with Pakistan and resolve Kashmir solution according to United Nations resolutions and revoke abrogation of article 375 and 35A and stop planned and organized genocide of Kashmiris. United States can not afford to ignore Pakistan. It should play its positive role before it is too late. Its unjustified support to Isreal resulted in a bloodshed and genocide of Palestinians and now the global opinion turned against Israel and USA and global opinion support to Palestinians can be seen which is written on the wall.
