History bears witness that no nation has achieved lasting prosperity merely through abundant natural resources, wealth, or a large population. The true foundation of every great civilization has always been knowledge, reading, and intellectual awareness.
A book is far more than a collection of printed pages. It broadens the mind, strengthens character, sharpens judgment, and provides direction to both individuals and societies.
Unfortunately, we live in an era where information is abundant, but deep reading is becoming increasingly rare. Short videos, fleeting posts, and bite-sized content have gradually replaced thoughtful reading. As a result, while access to information has expanded, critical thinking, analytical ability, and intellectual depth are steadily declining.
One characteristic united history's greatest thinkers, scientists, scholars, reformers, and visionary leaders: they cultivated a lifelong relationship with books. Books do more than provide answers—they teach us how to ask better questions. And meaningful questions are the starting point of research, innovation, and progress.
If we aspire to raise a generation that is not only degree holders but also knowledgeable, thoughtful, ethical, and visionary, we must cultivate a genuine reading culture in our homes, educational institutions, workplaces, and communities.
