NOTE:
The word used in Quran is “QARD-AN HASAN-AN” which according to Abu Ishaq
(grammarian) means a good action or gift or anything for which a requital may be
sought (from ALLAH) [Arabic English Lexicon by Edward William Lane];
While according to another grammarian Ali Ibn Sulaiman al-Akhfesh this means
good action by following and obeying the commands of ALLAH. (Taj al-arus)
According to Zajjaj ((grammarian) the word “Qard” signifies anything done on
which a reward may be expected (Al-Tafsir al-Kabir).
