SC’s Verdict Against PM And TV Programs
(Hafiz Muhammad Noman, Karachi)
The honourable Supreme Court of
Pakistan (SC) finally declared Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gillani disqualified
as he made contempt of court whereas TV channels started to avail this
opportunity to raise the ratings of their programs.
Kamran Shahid on Wednesday presented a program on the same issue in which he
sought public opinions on the SC’s verdict concerning PM’s disqualification. It
was shocking to see the program because the supporters or voters of Pakistan
People’s Party (PPP) were angry on the verdict and were talking ill-manneredly,
saying that the Supreme Court’s verdict was not true.
It is obvious that the voter of a party surely speaks of his party or always
supports his party and so did it take place in Kamran Shahid’s program as PPP’s
supporters angrily cursed Supreme Court of Pakistan or its verdict and raised
their voice in favour of disqualified Prime Minister!
A question arises here why did Kamran Shahid made the program on this issue
because it was a sensitive matter? The tone the public used for Supreme Court of
Pakistan in the program was unsuitable and it felt that the program presented by
the anchor, aimed at defaming or mocking the SC’s verdict! Kamran Shahid should
not have made such program through which public used harsh words on the issue!
The media channels should always be responsible and perform programs by gauging
or estimating the importance and sensitivity of any issue because it is
ethically better for them and in this way, any misconception could be coped with
easily!
