Boredom is not a new thing for
the human beings and they are the only creature who gets bored. Boredom actually
is the unpleasant emotional and mental state of discomfort, loss of interest and
excitement.
Boredom may be situational or chronic in nature. Situational boredom is based on
daily activities and experiences. Like, getting bored from books, class room
lectures, and repetitive tasks. Chronic boredom is upsetting and pathological
that persists till not taken professional psychological help.
The symptoms which an individual faces during boredom are sleepiness, self
absorption, tiredness, vanity and moderate to severe depression etc. Every
individual knows about the reasons of getting bored around them, but never comes
to know about the reasons present in themselves. Causes of boredom may differ
from individual to individual. Lack of variety and curiosity in life, high
intelligence are major factors of getting bored.
Coping strategies for the boredom are like,

• Introducing different ideas into life.
• Use of fantasies in creative way in life.
• Tolerating boredom and considering it due to a reason resides in one’s own
self.
• Getting the use of intelligence.
• Engaging oneself in motor activities whenever feelings of bored.

boredom medications are not the solution rather than if boredom is associated to
severe depression. Clinical psychologists can help the individuals, introducing
different therapeutic interventions after clinical assessment. With the help of
clinical psychologist individuals can get rid of boredom by making oneself
strong in achieving one’s goals, interests and potentials. Boredom can mostly be
treated through improving one’s abilities in routine life
