The COAS must be having a list
for buying arms both from America and Brazil; as for Brazil Pakistan can enter
into a defence cooperation pact of far reaching impact. Brazil suits Pakistan;
in the past it had expressed its desire to opening a new chapter of
relationship. Pentagon may suggest the army chief a role to help fight the ISIS,
to detach it from Russia. It can ask for a role in Afghanistan too if the
complains of growing Indian influence there are addressed. Of late there has
been a seemingly well orchestrated scheme of projecting bigger than life image
of Gen Raheel. It is being asked as if it is launched by army’s own run social
media centres, like Umer Farooq of Herald mentions. But such kind of social
media spin doctors are only available in the ruling parties’ camp, who claim to
have farsighted vision.
Speculations are rife about Gen Raheel’s next moves as similar as of Gen Zia’s –
they talk of documents of Nandipur corruption and earthquake fund embezzlement
provided to PM which reportedly prove Nawaz himself accomplice – but those who
know Gen Raheel from close disapprove of such a move likely. The General has
already proved, they say, he only wants the system continues to work and work
well. Instead of thinking of getting rid of the General, the government is
hopefully wise enough to mend its ways, act fast on its part of NAP, improve
governance and shun corruption. Sincerity of one person is not enough. It has to
be collectively followed by all. “Imran’s jazba, Nawaz’s economic policy,
Zardari’s political wisdom, Fazlur Rehman’s understanding and Asfandyar’s
standing must be gathered under one”, Malala rightly said while talking to a TV
anchor the other day. She advised that all must join hands together to work for
the betterment of the people and uplift of the country.
