The passage of the “Women
Empowerment Bill” by the Panjab Assembly has proved many things. Rahman Malik,
the Senator and then Information Minister in PPP government, in a Cabinet
meeting happened to recite Surah Akhlas. He made three attempts but every time
he could not recite it correctly. The other ministers instead of feeling
ashamed, laughed, their teeth were visible. The said Minister, instead of
feeling ashamed, tried to absolve himself of his failing, by saying that the
script given to him for recitation was wrong! This amply shows the religious
knowledge of our leaders/public representatives. The stuff we have in Panjab
Assembly is somehow of the same fiber.
I am sure most of the Members were neither shown nor they had read the contents
of the Women Empowerment Bill. Those who drafted the Bill, had little knowledge
of the Quran and Sunnah. They seem to be void of customs, rites and bent of the
society they are living in. Islam is the Deen (Code of life for the human being
till Doom’s Day) given to us / humanity by Allah, the Creator, the Wise, the
Sustainer of the universe with unlimited good and countless qualities which
cannot be comprehended by us all. There are many verses in the Holy Quran
dealing with the affairs of women. I wish the “brain” which drafted the Bill had
gone through these verses or consulted Ulamaa on this issue. I fear that the
Draft of the Bill, before its approval, was never put to Khadam - i - Aalaa of
Panjab.
As pointed out earlier, some of the confides of Shahbaz Sharif, determined to
mar his image, discredit him, and doom him once for all, are in a great hurry.
These Advisers are trying their best to use his shoulder to fire at the Tenants
of Islam under the garb of Liberal, Modern, Progressive and Enlightened
Pakistan. They have convinced him that unless necessary steps are taken to take
the country away from the basis of its coming into existence i.e., Ideology of
Pakistan and the Two Nation Theory, we can neither make progress in economic and
cultural fields nor have good relations with Baharat – vital as key to success.
They have convinced him that such steps will please the West hence all the more
reason to fetch Western investments in various fields especially culture, women
education, social uplift and mass communications etc. Many new NGOs will pop up
with massive foreign funding to bring a quick change in the minds of women - a
major segment of the society. Thus all female voters, obliged through the Bill
will poll in his favor in the coming general election.
Need not to mention that the West, a few decades ago, had strong family bonds.
All the family members had regards for each other. They would respect the
father, the mother, the sister, the brother and the other elderly members/
relatives. But then pseudo thinkers and advocates of Human Rights, Democracy,
Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Action got a chance to play their role. They
came out with very attractive slogans. To curb the emancipation of women at the
hand of men, and to ensure that instead of sitting idle in the house, the women
folk take part in the economic development of their country, they took them out
of their homes. Women were, for the time being, very happy. More earning members
were added to the family. This brought worldly prosperity. The standard of
living was raised. These “Well Wishers of Women” succeeded in their hidden
motives. They wanted to create a fuss in the society. The more women were
involved in economic activity, the weaker became the family unit. A woman could
not give due time to her offspring, husband and other persons of the family
–love, affection, devotion, care, attention and sacrifice of time, rest, comfort
was altogether missing. The home became only a hostel or a guest room.
The exposure made the women vulnerable to many ills. A woman, despite all the
laws passed from time to time, could not protect her honor, dignity, respect and
chastity. She became a cheap commodity available everywhere i.e., shops,
showrooms, clubs, casinos, brothels areas, T V screens, posters, flexes, cinema
screens and petty ads. Efforts were made to present her in the best possible
attractive poses, gestures and figures. They did not care for her obligatory
respect.
The West, apparently very attractive, is indeed fed up with the bad effects of
the ever loosening family bonds. Vulgarity, nudity, rape, and adultery are
rampant. Sex at very young age, has gone out of control. We must bear in mind
that every third child does not know the name of his/her father. The column
showing father’s name has been removed from all farms. A man or woman may have
illicit relations with as many as one feels like. Lesbian and same sex marriages
are being legalized. They do not know what to do. They want to go back but are
helpless. Under the Empowerment Bill passed by Punjab Assembly every member of
the family has been debarred from exercising his authority over a female of the
family to stop her doing anything she desires. None can check others for any
immoral/indecent act.
We in Pakistan, are very keen to enforce the Bill and thus provide legal cover
to what the West is already fed up!! I am sure wisdom will prevail and we can
learn from the bitter experience of the West. We Must know that this Unique
Piece of Ground was bestowed to us by Allah Almighty as a reward for the great
sacrifices of our forefathers (200 million Muslims had to leave their ancestral
villages/towns/cities. 5 million Muslims were killed and 63,000 Muslim ladies
were snatched by the Sikhs/Hindus. Million were wounded, fell sick and suffered
untold miseries). We had made a firm commitment to Allah that His orders would
be enforced in Pakistan. This “Empowerment Bill” will open a gate way to
Vulgarity, Immorality, Nudity, Misconduct, Disrespect, Tension, Psychological
problems and many other diseases. Instead of bringing a healthy change in the
society, it will set a pace in opposite direction – revival will be very
difficult.
The only solution: Let all the sane, patriot, sensible and Islam loving persons
educate others to stand against the nefarious activities of the Liberals,
Secular and Anti Islam elements. It is need of the time otherwise the Country is
being derailed from the tracks laid in 1947. If failed, we all will be guilty
for this Sin. Our next generations will suffer and look down upon us. Are we
ready to accept it?
