Ancient History of Terrorism

When we study the human history it comes into our knowledge that the history of terrorism begins with the human history because in the ancient times the terrorism manifested in the form of individuals, groups and tribal riots. Later the small states faced aggression by the bigger states as a foreign aggression and only those states survived whose were in power or prepared for battle to other tribe, groups and other states, and captured the small states or groups or tribes. At the time of French Revolution in 1779 millions of innocent people were killed and dreadful violence had been used against the innocent people and with this revolution the term invent that is known as terrorism, before this people were not familiar with this term but the violence had been used. Alexander and the other warriors killed the millions of innocent people in their several wars in the ancient time that is known as ancient terrorist human history. (S. Michal, 2007)

The Roman Empire also fought many wars to establish a strong kingdom in the world and wanted to expand them with the expansionist policy. Many wars were fought on the base of religion between Muslims and Christen for promoting their religion and vision. Terrorism is not new phenomena in the world, its history founded with the creation of human beings and the violence used by human for their own interests either it was material or religious.

In the beginning the terrorism was used by an individual, tribe or groups because that was a time, society was not as much developed as today and they had used traditional weapons for any violence or any terrorist act. In some cases they had to be successful in any conduct of terrorist activity because there were no proper communication sources and that was a time of traditional weapons (knife, sword and iron made weapons) were used by terrorists. So terrorism was not as effective as today due to lack of modern weapons and information system because that was a time, terrorists were unable to gather sufficient information about the target.

Terrorism has also transformed from individual level to group level, group level to state level, state level to regional level, regional to international level. Evolution is not only happened in politics, society, and technology but also happened in the crops of terrorism and have more organized due to sharing information, providing training, administrative, financial and logistic supports to each other. Modern technology brought modern strategy and modern strategy brought modern tactics of terrorism. There is a correlation between technology and terrorism.

Why the aggression or terrorism used in pre modern history? There were several reasons such as 1: For the group leadership or for the dominance of one group to other group or the expansionism of themselves and for economic objectives. It was the priority of the terrorists at that time.
