Media Politics

(Rauf Saeed, lahore)

There are three basic pillars of all the countries, namely The Executive, The Legislation and The Judiciary. All three of these hold utmost importance in the running of the state. With time, due to its ever increasing significance. Media has emerged as a fourth pillar in the eyes of many.

There is a great responsibility when great importance is attached. As wrong news may hinder the whole image of a country, so it should be kept in mind by the media industry, that right message is conveyed at all times. Hence they should make sure that quantitative facts are delivered to the audience, not mere speculations and judgments.

Having all that said, I would respond in affirmative that they do generate bias and present their own views and opinions. In fact they change the whole situation with the ingredient of sympathy in the news, which changes the basic view of the common man.

The media favoritism happens around the globe like in the revolution erupted in Libya, the private local media presented their views against the president, while the National channels were with him.

It is true, that in the current era,inter-personalization is required to stay in business but still the media people should not forget their basic duty as an impartial messenger and should keep their opinions a side.
