Pakistan Water And India

(Fatima Siddiqui, Karachi)

Pakistan India relations are always been conflictual from the day of emergence. Initially the core of conflict was Kashmir but eventually it became an open secret the India never accepted Pakistan as an independent country and always tried to get hold of it. To attain their this objective India used different tools in different times which include wars, pressurizing Pakistan as weak states internationally, portraying Pakistan as an terrorist country etc. But by the grace of Allah Pakistan remains on the map of world.

The above mention tools are internationally exposed and opened efforts but cultural imperialism, involvement in promoting anarchy in Baluchistan are hidden and more dangerous. The conflicts between different religious communities of the country are also triggered by India. This is not end over here,India's strategy to take over Pakistan has taken a new dimension in which they are using water as weapon. Since Pakistan's major water resources are depended upon the water from Himalaya ranges and India serves as the way of water to Pakistan, India exploits this. To avoid the conflict a treaty named as INDUS WATER TREATY was signed between the countries because their was a possibility that India would stop Pakistan water during war times but India violated the treaty and started building dams over Pakistan water, Baglihar and kishanganga dams are the evidence of Indian violation and exposed Indian conspiracy to turn Pakistan into desert. Not only this but time to time India stop water during the cultivation season and opened the flood water during the time when crops are about to cut destroying the agricultural sector of Pakistan which is completely dependent upon that water.

The recent devastating flood was also the result of excessive water released by India in Pakistan territories without warning which flowed everything in its ways and left Pakistan suffering. According to the recent news Indian army has started melting glaciers in Kargil with chemicals and asked media to report it as a result of army activities and global warming. This melted water will be release in Pakistan to create another flood and in the long run it lead to the sever water deficiency in the country in the time to come.

These unhumanitarian schemes of India should be exposed on the international level like united nations and the government of Pakistan must have to initiate counter plans to cope with the Indian strategies.
