KARACHI: A tragic road accident occurred on Monday evening on Karachi’s Karsaz Road, resulting in the death of a man and his daughter, while four others were injured. The incident has sparked widespread debate online, with many demanding justice for the victims.
Initial reports indicate that a speeding Toyota Land Cruiser lost control, struck a motorcycle, and then plunged onto the service road. The crash claimed the lives of two people on the spot, while four others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
The driver, identified as Natasha Iqbal, a resident of Karachi’s KDA Scheme-I, is currently in police custody under a one-day physical remand. Aftermath of the Accident
Following the accident, a case was filed at the Bahadurabad Police Station against Natasha. The incident occurred around 6:30 pm, after which Natasha was apprehended by Police and Rangers. She also sustained a head injury and was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a medical examination.
Eyewitnesses allege that Natasha, possibly intoxicated at the time, attempted to flee the scene but was detained by bystanders and handed over to the police. The deceased, identified as 62-year-old Imran Arif and his 23-year-old daughter Amina, along with the injured, were brought to JPMC for legal formalities and treatment. A case was registered under charges of culpable homicide and negligence.

On Tuesday, a local Karachi court granted a one-day physical remand for Natasha after the investigating officer requested a seven-day remand. The court directed the authorities to present Natasha with a complete medical report. Her lawyer continues to assert that she is mentally unfit to appear in court.
As of now, Natasha remains in police custody, with bail denied due to her non-appearance in court. She is expected to be presented before the court as per the magistrate’s orders.
