Ghauri is being summoned by the Sindh High Court (SHC) in a corruption reference and a money laundering and terror financing case till February 5.

The SHC granted 10-day protective bail to the former minister in the above mentioned case on January 23. The bail was subject to submitting a solvent surety of Rs200,000 in each case.

He arrived in Karachi from Dubai via an international flight. He left for his residence after clearance from the immigration section. This is his second visit over the last six months.

Ghauri left Karachi for the United Arab Emirates on July 14 after the police released him in a case pertaining to allegedly facilitating an incendiary speech of Muttahida Qaumi Movement founder Altaf Hussain in 2015.

The former federal minister was arrested at Karachi airport on July 5, 2022, after he returned to Pakistan ending his seven-year self-imposed exile. Babar, who had ports and a shipping portfolio now called maritime affairs, was shifted to an “unidentified location” by the security agencies.

The development had come after more than a week of the SHC granting Ghauri a two-week protective bail in a corruption reference, a money laundering and terror financing case.

The Federal Investigation Agency booked Ghauri, along with the MQM founder and other party leaders, in 2017 in a money laundering and terror financing case.
