Opting to bat first, the Babar Azam-inspired side struggled again to find a good star, losing both openers for just 38 runs on the board. Marco Jansen showed no mercy to the openers whatsoever and went on to bag their wickets.

But skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan tried to take their team out of the doldrums, putting up a 48-run partnership off 56 deliveries, only before the gutsy Rizwan perished off Gerald Coetzee. In his 27-ball 31, Rizwan smashed four boundaries and one six.

Earlier, Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bat first against South Africa in the ICC World Cup match being played at Chennai International Cricket Stadium.

Skipper Babar Azam said:"Every match is important so we will try our best. Put runs on the board. We need to improve in all departments, especially fielding and bowling." The highly anticipated cricket match between Pakistan and South Africa is facing a significant threat from the unpredictable weather, as dark clouds loom over the stadium in Chennai.

Two changes, Hasan is sick, and Wasim Jr takes over from him. Usama Mir is also out, with Nawaz replacing him.
