Younis Khan, renowned for his prolific batting career with over 10,000 Test runs and his leadership in securing Pakistan's victory in the 2009 T20 World Cup, brings a wealth of experience to the Afghan side. He previously served as Afghanistan's batting coach in 2022 during a training camp in the UAE.
In addition to his prior role with Afghanistan, Younis has held several coaching positions, including: Pakistan National Team: Appointed as batting coach for Pakistan's tour to England in 2020. Peshawar Zalmi (PSL): Worked as a mentor in the Pakistan Super League. Bangla Tigers (Abu Dhabi T10 League): Recently coached the team in the T10 League.The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has expressed confidence that Younis Khan's mentorship will enhance the team's performance in the high-stakes tournament. He is expected to join the Afghan squad shortly before the commencement of the Champions Trophy.
