Ingredients
  1. For special masala
  2. 1/2bunch All spice
  3. 2-3 Papri
  4. 2 tbsp Whole black pepper
  5. For Green chutney
  6. 1/2bunch Coriander leaves
  7. 1/2bunch Mint leaves
  8. 5-6 Green chilies
  9. 1/2cup Tamarind paste
  10. For garnishing
  11. 1/2cup Onion chopped
  12. 1/2cup Chopped tomatoes
  13. 1/2cup Chopped coriander
  14. 1cup Yogurt
  15. as required Chat masala
  16. Other Ingredients
  17. 1/2 kg Chickpea
  18. 1/2cup Lentils
  19. 1tsp Turmeric
  20. 2 Potatoes
  21. For frying Oil
  22. for serving Pastry strips
  23. as required Salt
Method
  • Method for special masala:-
  • In a grinder grind together the peppery,black pepper and all spice.The special masala is ready.
  • Method for green chutney
  • In a blender blend together the coriander,mint leaves,green chilies,tamarind paste, sugar and salt.The green chutney is ready to serve.
  • Method for preparing the chickpeas
  • Soak the chickpeas overnight with 1tsp baking soda. In a large pan boil together the chickpeas, lentils,salt and turmeric. Boil until the lentils and chickpeas are tendered. When a little water remains add the boiled potato cubes and cook for a further1-2 minutes.
  • Method for making the pyala
  • Heat oil in a wok. Place a pastry strip in a sieve.Cover the sieve with another one and deep fry it. Repeat with the other strips.
  • Method for serving
  • Fill the pastry strips with the chickpeas and sprinkle the chat masala on top.Then top it with whipped yogurt. green chutney,chopped onions, chopped tomatoes,chopped corianderand chat masala.
