  1. 1 kg white gourd
  2. cups chana dal
  3. 3 tblsps oil
  4. 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  5. a pinch of asafoetida
  6. 2 tsps sugar
  7. 4 green chillies) ground
  8. a piece of ginger' to a paste
Method
  • Wash, peel and cut the white gourd. Wash the dal.
  • Boil both together in a pressure cooker with just enough water. Next, heat the oil with mustard seeds and asafoetida in a kadai. Add the cooked white gourd and dal, and mix in sugar, green chillies, ginger, and salt. Keep on the fire for 3 minutes. Remove and serve hot.(The same recipe may be used for green gram and White gourd.)
