In a pan put together 125 gm sugar, 1 cup water, ½ tsp lemon skin and 1 tbsp kewra. Cook till sugar is dissolved. Now keep it aside.
In a bowl mix together 150 gm butter and 250 gm sugar.
Add in 4 eggs one by one. Add few drops of vanilla essence, 300 gm semolina and 1 tbsp baking powder. Beat till it is well combined.
Grease and line a cake tin, spread sliced almonds on the base. Pour cake batter on top.
Now bake in a preheated oven on 180 degrees for 35 – 40 minutes.
Then remove from oven, cool it completely.
Unmold and top with prepared syrup.
