President’s Vietnam visit Impact on relations of both countries.

President of republic of India Pranav Mukherjee returned from four day’s tour of Vietnam. When President Pranab Mukherjee reached Vietnam, he was accorded a grand welcome at Airport by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Chairman of the Presidential office Veit Tarang. On the occasion various senior officers of the Vietnam & the officers & official of Indian Embassy were also present. President was also presented god of honour. President had a meeting with his Vietnamese counterpart Tarang Taan Sang & its Prime Minister on the bilateral issues. During the meeting Socio-economic development & foreign policy came under discussion & stress was laid on the betterment of the mutual relations. Both the Presidents jointly inaugurated “ Centre for Indian Studies” at Hoshi Mun National Academy of Politics & Public Administration. President visited various Vietnamese cultural & historical places also & had an interaction with the people. He presented the sacred Bodhi Plant of Bodh Gaya to President Troung Tan Sang as a gift, which is an indication of the Bodhi heritage of both the countries. President visited Tran Quok Pagoda also, where the Indian 1st President Dr.Rajinder Parsad had planted a Bodhi plant in 1959. Besides, President visited war Remnants Museum at Chi Minh & became aware of he deeds of brave Vietnamese. In order to strengthen the relations between both the countries, President invited Vietnamese Prime Minister Nigoon Tan Dang to India, which was accepted by the Prime Minister. During his visit various pacts & agreements signed between both the countries, which include Vietnam Oil & Gas and ONGC Videsh limited (OVL) Group Petro Vietnam, explore oil from South Chineese Ocean. During Pranab Mukherjee’s visit both the nations laid stress on the mutual co-operation, which include political, defence, security, economic, science & technology, cultural co-operation & people to people contact and regional co-operation. President Pranab Mukherjee said that in these sectors the chances of mutual partnership & co-operation for the both the nations is possible. He said that if both the countries work in close co-ordination, the relations between the two countries can be more strengthened.

Pranab Mukherjee’s this tour is considered strategically more importance. However, China has become to some extent perturbed on inking the agreements between the two nation on the exploration of oil from the south Chinese ocean. It is important to note that between China & Vietnam there is a confrontation on the south Chinese ocean. There is a great stock of oil and natural gas in the south Chinese ocean, for the usage of which there is a race between China and its neighboring sea-shore countries. An important agreement between the both countries were inked on Vietnam Airlines & Domestic Indian Air Career Jet Airways. Under this agreement for the first time from 5th of Novemeber, 2014 direct flights would be operated between Delhi, Mumbai & historical city of Vietnam Chi Minh, which has been hailed by both the countries. After the visit both the President’s issued a joint statement urging for the peace, tranquility & development in Asia. In the joint statement it was started that President Sang & President Mukherjeet had a mutual interaction on social, economic development and foreign policies of both countries. President Mukherjee congratulated Vietnamese people for the tremendous developments achieved in the recent years. President Mukherjee referring to the heritage of Vietnam, reiterated that India will always be a friend of Vietnam. President Pranab Mukherjee while addressing at dinner Party, presented by Vietnamese President in his honour said that both the countries have close co-ordination. These relations ae maintained from centuries. These relations based on the trade, mutual interest & peace. He said both the countries are having joint heritage of Budhism.He said that the teachings of Lord Budha have attained great importance nowadays & we need it today. The people of both the countries follow these teachings in daily life also. It is expected that the visit of President Mukherjee to Vietnam will strengthen the relations between the two countries & will us….. in a new era of peace, tranquility & development in Asia. To conclude, we can say that the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee will strengthen the diplomatic relations between Vietnam & India.
