Young People Nowadays Refuse To Eat Healthy Foods

(FARAH ZAHEER, Karachi)

Unfortunately, many young people nowadays refuse to eat healthy food from several reasons but the majority says they don't like it. They prefer going to a fast-food and have a hamburger or two, a pizza and a can of coke.

Boys use to do this frequently. Most of them are away from home all day long and they have no time to go home and have a soup prepared by their mother. That is why they prefer to spend money on fast-food products, their favorites being pizza and hamburgers. At this delicious lunch they attach a can of coca-cola and now their hunger has disappeared and they fell their stomach full. They are not conscious of the danger this type of food has on their health is they consume it daily and in large amounts. It shouldn't however be consumed in a high speed because it needs to be digested very well.

A typical consumer of this type of food is a young person, normally between fifteenth and twenty-eight years old, of middle-income purchasing power. He doesn't have the financial income to afford going to a restaurant in his one-hour break time and eat some healthy food, a salad and a fresh fruit as a dessert. However, we should point out that within the concept of food fast, we can define two broad groups: Anglo-Saxon fast food which consists of hamburgers and sausages and, on the other hand, Mediterranean fast food which offers sandwiches, pizzas and tapas. Among these two, the second one is much more advisable than the first one, because of its nutritional characteristics.

An interesting fact is that young people refuse to eat healthy food at home as they don't like a salad and some boiled vegetables to a pizza or a hamburger or some steak with fried potatoes. Parents usually discuss with their children because of food and finally they prefer to make a sandwich just because the cooked food is awful and they can't eat it.

Young people who prefer this kind of food should try to understand that healthy products are necessary for our good health, in order not to put on weight and to have all the necessary vitamins in our body.
