The external expression of anger can be found in facial expression, body language, physiological responses, and at times public acts of aggression. psychologists point out that an angry person can very well be mistaken because anger causes a loss in self- monitoring capacity and objective observability. Some of the modern psychologists, however, view anger as a normal, natural, and mature emotion experienced by virtually all humans time to time that has functional value for survival.

Anger often runs in families. Frequently, people can think back to their parents, grandparents and other extended family as being angry people. There are wide range of family disputes in various settings of modern life. Families fight and get angry, for different reasons. Money or family financial matters are the main reasons, from fighting over inheritance to disagreeing about who will pay for aging parents or family events. If members of a family feel they have been treated unfairly or not given their fair share, they may feel the bitterness for years, maybe even a lifetime.

Anger can be caused by internal and external events. One might feel mad at a person, in an institution or an event like a traffic jam, or a political election. Also, in day-to-day dealings due to difference of opinions people often lose their temper and start fighting. Its hard to make smart choices when a person is in the grip of a powerful negative emotion.

Uncontrolled anger is detrimental to both physical and mental health and social wellbeing as well. It can weaken immune system, increase risk of experiencing a heart attack, and worsen feelings of anxiety and depression. It is also one of the most common relapse triggers. Researches indicate that anger and hostility can increase people's chances of developing coronary heart disease, and lead to worse outcomes in people who already have heart disease. Anger can also lead to stress-related problems including insomnia, digestive problems and headaches. Anger can also contribute to violent and risky behaviors, including smoking, drug and alcohol use. It might also affect the quality of life. Anger can significantly damage relationships with family, friends and colleagues.

Anger is one of the worst things considered in Islam. Intense anger can be very serious that it sometimes forces the person to beat another person, to create hatred in relationships, and people give divorce without thinking about the consequences. A person loses his self-control in anger.

God says, in the holy Quran:
“Those who spend (freely) whether in prosperity or in adversity; who restrain their anger and pardon men; And Allah loves those who do good.” 3: 134
It has been narrated by Abu Huraira (May Allah be pleased with him) that Allah’s Messenger Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“The strong is not the one who overcomes the people by his strength. But the strong is the one who controls him while in anger."
Anger is an emotional state that results from inner agitation and desire for revenge. And when this agitation becomes violent, it intensifies the fire of anger.
Imam Baqir (May Allah pleased with him) said: “Indeed, this anger is a spark lit by Satan in the heart of the son of Adam” (Al-Kulayni, Al kafi, Vol. 2, page 304, hadith no. 12).
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said,
“If one of you becomes angry then he should stay silent.”
