The story of our camping trip (1st part)

(M. Qasim Waqar Sialvi, Faisalabad)

Take some time for yourself too.

It was on January 21, 2025, when I received a message from Zakaullah Qadri on my mobile that a camping event was being organized by CRC in Sangla Hill District Nankana Sahib, it was an open invitation and I was also coming. It was like getting my name drawn in a lottery, this was the second chance in my life and the first time in biker life when I was going to get the chance to be a tenter myself. I didn’t have a tent, so I started looking for one, the prices ranged from six thousand to forty thousand, then I also heard the terms of auto and manual, I also heard the comments, analyses, and concerns of experts, the story goes that I got a tent on credit (smaller than the income of a poor person), the sleeping bag was ordered from Lahore (it turned out to be the most useless material, I will comment on it later). With the arrival of both things, it was as if we were able to make ends meet, but there were still other tests of love.

On January 25, I contacted Seemab Bhai. Sir, at 12 o’clock in the afternoon, he was completely ready and ready, and I was busy with my work in the university. I said we will leave at 3 o'clock if you are ready then go and I and Ansar bhai will come later and the call was cut off. The surprise came when I got a call at 2:30 from Seemab sahib, oh sir. I have to leave now. I am waiting on Canal Road, reach quickly. Well done. We think the person in question has gone to Sangla Hill Sadhar, he is still in Faisalabad. The three of us met at Canal Road at 3 o'clock, attached the intercom device of the helmet to each other and started the journey. Seemab sahib ahead, Ansar behind him and finally us and Ishq ka Ghoda. Thanks to the intercom, we kept chatting with Seemab all the way and we didn't even know the journey and we reached Hill Park Sangla Hill. The Lahore team had not yet arrived. I thought we should eat something to refresh ourselves, I filled my stomach with chicken tikka and dal fry and was just drinking tea when I got a call from Zakaullah sahib that we had reached.

When we reached the park, everyone was looking to set up their tents. We were the last of the people to arrive and started setting up our tents. Seemab Sahib turned out to be a complete expert. He had packed a jumbo-sized tent in a small bag, in which ten or twelve people could easily sit, and three motorcycles could also be covered in the veranda outside. I was pleasantly surprised to see the fitting of this tent and helped as needed. When the tent was fitted, it was a bigger tent than all the others in the group. After that, it was my turn to set up my tent, and it turned out to be the smallest of the rest. It was decided that my tent would house my helmet and bags, while everyone would rest comfortably in the big one. After setting up camp, some people were seen chatting with their acquaintances. Ansar and I had joined for the first time and were still completely isolated. Somewhere there was a photo shoot and somewhere there was gossip. Somewhere there was laughter inside the tent and some were checking the arrangements for torch lighting. Some were busy burning wet wood. Mukarram Khan Tareen, the chairman of the International Biker Cross Route Club and host of Discover Pakistan's program D Bikers, was also keeping a close eye on all the matters from afar, standing on the shore of the lake. Here, we met Salman Munir from Shahkot, Faizan Ali from Sukhiki and his brother, who is a YouTuber and vlogs in the Punjabi language under the name of the villager. And we also met Mujahid Bashir from Sheikhupura. Eleven of us went to Sangla Hill Main Bazaar for dinner around 8 pm. We had dinner at Shinwari Hotel. This food was from Umar and Ali brothers, residents of Sangla Hill and friends of Salman Munir. When we returned at 10:30 pm, the fire was burning all over the place and the bikers formed a circle around it, listening to the conversation of Mukram Khan Tareen Sahib. We also secretly approached the fire to get rid of the cold and benefit from the conversation of the senior bikers.

In the cold weather, under the starry sky, in the cluster of camps on the lakeside at the foot of the hill of Sangla Hill, the fire was burning all over the place and the bikers were standing around it enjoying its freshness. The center of attention was the young and elderly biker Mukram Tareen Sahib, whose unique style of conversation and very elegant tone were entertaining everyone. Everyone was allowed to ask questions and Tareen Sahib was answering every question in the best possible way. Most of the questions were related to the international tour, how many cc should a motorcycle be, how to get a carnet? How much would be the fee? How was your journey from Pakistan to Madinah Pak? What difficulties did you face? What is the next tour? What are the essentials in border crossings, what things should be avoided? You are so old but don't you get tired? Don't you have back pain? The sarees make your legs look tired. Please show me some exercise so that I don't get tired, tell me how to take permission from my wives. Does your Home Ministry not protest the number of tours you do? ... (Continued)
