From Pakistan to Canada: Unmasking India’s Covert Operations

(Arbaz Raza Bhutta, Layyah)

If it is said that Pakistan is the country in South Asia that has suffered immense losses due to terrorism, it would not be wrong. Since independence, Pakistanis have borne the weight of countless funerals. India has played a significant role in these incidents, as Pakistan, too, has been accused of involvement in terrorism in India over the years, leaving no stone unturned in their retaliation. Recently, the Jaffar Express attack in Pakistan, an extraordinary act of terrorism, was claimed by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), which is allegedly supported by India. India’s role in such operations within Pakistan is evident, particularly since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government came to power, targeting those who raise voices against India’s aggression worldwide.

A recent incident in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district saw a school bus bombed, killing at least three innocent children and injuring over 35, according to initial reports. Islamabad has blamed India, claiming that after the failure of “Operation Binyan Marsoos,” the Indian government is targeting Pakistan’s civilians, especially children. Beyond Pakistan, India has allegedly conducted operations in countries like the United States, Australia, and Canada, which international media has exposed extensively. On April 5, 2024, The Guardian reported that India was responsible for the deaths of over 20 individuals inside Pakistan, targeting those allegedly involved in terrorism or linked to Kashmiri resistance groups. Initially, India denied these claims, but Defense Minister Rajnath Singh later admitted that, following the 2019 Pulwama attack, India resolved to target individuals orchestrating terrorism from Pakistani soil.

On April 29, 2024, The Washington Post published an article revealing that Nikhil Gupta, an operative of India’s RAW, hired a hitman to assassinate Sikh separatist leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in New York. The plot was foiled after the CIA received prior intelligence about Pannun’s location. Similar operations occurred in Canada, home to a large Punjabi Sikh population, where Sikh separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed by RAW outside a gurdwara in 2023. Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expelled Indian diplomats in response, noting that Delhi had labeled Nijjar a terrorist.

In 2020, Australia’s Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) caught RAW operatives stealing sensitive defense and airport security information while building ties with local Indian communities and politicians. Pakistan remains India’s primary target, with opportunities seized to cause significant destruction. Recently, a CIA official Sarah Adams claimed India is using Taliban networks to conduct operations in Pakistan. It is now up to Pakistani intelligence agencies to eliminate groups and individuals acting on foreign adversaries’ orders to create instability. The nation can no longer bear the weight of children’s funerals, as it is said that the coffins of innocent children are profoundly heavy, leaving a nation in grief for decades.
