Russian Diplomats are highly competent, professional, and dedicated. At a time when there were planned and coordinated efforts to isolate Russia from the rest of the world, Russian diplomatic workers worked diligently to protect and safeguard Russian interests, and it is now an accepted fact that all efforts to isolate Russia have failed, and Russia still is an effective and important part of the global power game and cannot be neglected. It is the duty of every diplomat that he or she should actively defend basic principles of international relations, such as equal rights and mutual respect, political and diplomatic settlement of conflicts and crises, and collective efforts to find solutions to regional and global problems. Building a broad anti-terrorist coalition on a solid legal basis under the UN aegis is a particularly important task. Working to develop mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners in all areas of both bilateral and multilateral relations is also as relevant a task as ever. Russian Diplomatic workers are working on these guidelines.
Russian Diplomatic workers are dedicated to their work, have creativity and take initiative, in the interests of ensuring Russia’s dynamic development and continuity to strengthen the country’s authority and influence on the world stage.
The employees of the Foreign Ministry’s main office, embassies and other diplomatic missions, and Russian regional offices, carefully preserve and creatively develop their country’s centuries-old traditions of diplomatic service. The professionalism, intellectual capacities, sense of initiative, and commitment allow them to solve the most difficult foreign policy challenges.
Russian diplomatic efforts and active cooperation with other countries are aimed primarily at creating favorable conditions for the sustainable development of their beloved countries, ensuring continued socioeconomic growth.
President of Russia Vladimir Putin paid a rich tribute to his foreign ministry’s diplomatic workers and said, “The Russian Foreign Ministry can be justly proud of its rich and glorious history. Its employees have always served the Motherland with honour, displaying civic courage, exceptional professionalism, and dedication to duty.
Continuing these traditions with dignity, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the current challenging international environment, firmly and consistently defends Russia's legitimate national interests. It ensures effective cooperation with the global majority states in order to build a just multipolar world order based on mutual respect, the rule of international law, and the principles of equal and indivisible security. This is evidenced, in particular, by the productive work of the Russian chairmanship in BRICS and the success of the association’s summit in Kazan.
There is no doubt that in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory Russian diplomats will continue their active efforts in opposing any attempts to falsify history, manifestations of neo-Nazism, Russophobia and other forms of discrimination based on ethnic or religious grounds. Moreover, protecting the rights of our compatriots abroad remains a priority.
I am confident that the close-knit Foreign Ministry team will continue to work with utmost dedication, contributing to the strengthening of Russia's international standing. I sincerely wish all employees of the Ministry's central office and diplomatic missions abroad continued success, and to the veterans of the diplomatic service good health, high spirits and longevity.
In Karachi Russian Diplomatic Workers’ Day was celebrated in its traditional way. The News Lark Karachi issued a special edition on the occasion and printed a message from His Excellency Mr. Andrey Fedorov. The following is an excerpt of his message.
“Today we celebrate the Russian Diplomatic Worker’s Day, a holiday that was established 24 years ago by President Vladimir Putin. On this very day, February 10, in 1549 Czar Ivan the Terrible founded the first foreign service in Russia – the “Ambassadorial Prikaz” – and appointed an extraordinary diplomat Ivan Viskovatiy to lead it and to spearhead the new foreign policy of the rapidly developing state. As professionals we are deeply honoured by such symbolism, since it emphasizes the significance of diplomacy to our country, the value that our nation attributes to peace and stability in the world. Since childhood Russian people know and revere the names of Alexander Griboedov (Russian Ambassador to Iran and a famous poet), Alexander Gorchakov (Minister of Foreign Affairs during the rule of the Emperor Alexander II who restored Russia’s international prestige after the Crimean War), Vyacheslav Molotov and Andrey Gromyko (both are the founding fathers of the United Nations Organization and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the USSR during different periods). Thus, this holiday perpetuates the fine traditions of the Russian diplomatic service and instills respect for it in the future generations. On this day we celebrate adeptness, professionalism and resilience demonstrated by our colleagues throughout many centuries while often serving under extreme pressure and in challenging circumstances. Their exemplary boldness and commitment to defending our country still inspire us to this very day, their experience and wisdom act as a foundation for us to counteract the adversity that Russia is currently facing.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere and heartfelt compliments to the diplomats of Pakistan and congratulate them on another productive year in our bilateral relations! Our countries continue to work constructively to develop cooperation in key areas, firmly adhering to the values that bind us. Together, we actively support the principles of the UN Charter and resist manifestations of neo-colonialism and genocidal practices. We should work to strengthen our economic ties, develop infrastructure projects, and cooperate in science and technology, cultural and humanitarian fields. I am confident that our efforts will make a significant contribution to the development and prosperity of Russia and Pakistan! A series of bilateral and multilateral diplomatic meetings have deepened the cooperation between our states. The heads of foreign services of the two states remain in contact, and the latest talks were organized on November 18, 2025, during SCO Council of Heads of Governments meeting. On November 11-12, 2025, an Interparliamentary Conference of Speakers in Islamabad was attended by Deputy Chairmen of both Chambers of the Russian Parliament. It was followed by the successfully held 10th Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation co-chaired by the Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev and Pakistani Power Minister Awais Leghari. The leaders of our countries also regularly interact on the sidelines of international forums with the SCO Heads of State Council meetings being one of the most important platforms in this regard.
The high level of contacts over the past year once again demonstrates the strength of the friendship between our countries and the attention that our leaders pay to these relations. I am deeply grateful to my colleagues in various departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, and especially to the Liaison Office in Karachi, for their responsiveness, professionalism and support, which contributed to the successful negotiations between our delegations and made an invaluable contribution to the development of our bilateral ties. Please accept my warmest and most sincere congratulations on the occasion of Diplomatic Worker’s Day!”.
