The full name of Razdan Sahab
is Hari Krishen Razdan and pseudonym is RAAZ. He was born on 18.11.1930 in
Gujranwala which is now in Pakistan. He studied in Farrukhabad, Patiala,
Sargodha and Lyallpur (now Faislabad). His father's name is Pandit Mohan Lal
Razdan and mother's name is Mohini Razdan. The family consists of son, Jeevan,
daughter-in-law Sushma; grand-daughter Vaishali; daughter Geeta, son-in-law
Nitin Matani, grandson Nikhil and grand-daughter Neha. His nephew, Karan Razdan
is well known film director.
Razdan sahab being a Kashmiri Pandit speaks urdu as his mother tongue; though he
studied Hindi and Sanskrit in school and college. He was always influenced by
the finesse of urdu language and culture. He was always fond of music, singing
and poetry even during his college days.
His first poem was published in a Delhi magazine, SAINIK SAMACHAR in 1950. After
45 years in 1995, Razdan Sahab, once again, renewed his literary efforts and
started writing mostly Ghazals in 1995 and this hobby contineus even today.
Meantime, in 2005 the first collection of his poetry was published as a book
named, 'HAR LAMHA AUR' in Hindi script and the second collection, 'DIL SE UTHA
DHUAN' was published in 2010 both in Hindi and Urdu scripts. Thereafter, 'HAR
LAMHA AUR' got published also in Urdu script.
Razdan Sahab cannot be referred without a reference to his continued interest in
great poets who often grace the Nishists, he holds at his residence. Prominent
among the regular visitors / participants are Janab Naqsh Lyallpuri, Janab
Mumtaz Rashid, Janab Ibraheem Ashk and until they lived also, Ganesh Bihari
Shrivastava 'Tarz Lakhnawi' and Janab Mukhtar Ahsan Ansari.
Razdan Sahab is for ever talking about his greatest friend and motivator for the
printing of his two books, Shri Jagdish Bathija.
Most readers of his books have admired his thought content, simplicity of words
and style (tarz-e-bayan) in his poetry, which has something new; something
different about it.
