In Hell Killing

(Basharat Khan, Karachi)

(Tragedy in Karachi 12 – 09 – 2012)

An accident in a factory, over 300 innocent peoples were died, in Karachi and many are seriously injured. Similar incident happened in Lahore with small human loss. Garment factory in Baldia Town, S.I.T.E. Karachi a multi storied building, constructed like a prison. The main cause of this type of construction is controlling theft raw materials, finished goods and any thing that belong to the factory owner(s). Controlled entrance and exit ways by administration and security staff, who are directly and very strictly controlled by factory owner(s). An empire of a capitalist with a private heart less ARMY called Admin & Security. Small windows closed with strong iron rods, no emergency exit ways and staircase. No emergency lights, No Fire Safety and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for any disaster and outstanding cases.

An accidental fire begun in evening around 6:17 pm, due to ideal environment, fabric (polyester, cotton and other) and other materials, flame become huge fire in minutes. Toxic gases were generated and then immediately exit ways closed by admin and security staff on order of management. Electric supply was missing, complete darkness with smoke, continuously increasing temperature, no exit way. The factory was turned into hell. It was “In Hell Killing”. It was the disaster, a national level tragedy, Nine Eleven of Pakistan.

Factory owners, management, security staff, S.I.T.E. association, Labor department, related government agencies, fire brigade, and rescue departments even all government departments are responsible for this incident directly, or indirectly. Bribe, Bhatta, commissions and corruption will create shameful and criminal negligence. It is the worst result of our criminal attitude. The investigation is in under process, hope the facts and all responsible (directly and indirectly) persons and departments will disclose. We expect the right actions against responsible of this incident, and bold steps to avoid these type of incidents in future. May Allah rest their souls in heaven.

Another part is very surprising and highly appreciable. All credit goes to MQM workers fore help, rescue to affected and aid for them. Mr. Abdul Ra’uf Siddiqui (Provincial Minister for Trade & Industry) belongs with MQM resigned. It was first time in Pakistan. The relief comes from non government organizations like Eidhi, Chipa and KKF. Hundreds of civilians and worker of a political party MQM rush them for rescue and then relief. Only MQM was there, for relief as an organization. Mr. Altaf Hussain (as head of MQM) was directly monitoring these efforts. Thanks to helping hands from us.

The Nine Eleven of Pakistan is a challenge for us. How can we overcome, the risk of disasters and incidents. A good hope for Pakistan
