Is it true media is misleading masses?

Mass media nowadays, is a source of awareness for everyone all over the world basically one of the major function of media is to aware or inform masses about the happenings in the world. People are aware about what is going on around the world through media.

But on the other hand, if we talk about negative side. There are several negative aspects of mass media. Media is misleading masses through many ways. Like media is spoiling our new generation. Our new generation have lack of interest towards education. As television distract attention our new generation mostly spent more hours in-front of television instead of studying.

If we talk about evil deeds in our country, rate of crime and drug addiction is increasing in our country. This also comes under negative impact of mass media. How to commit a crime is shown to the masses by media. People are inspired by the drugs which are used by the super stars in movies and also how to commit a crime is shown to masses through such movies and television soaps. People try to imitate them. Specially this is found in illiterate people. They watch movies and soaps and they can easily be influenced through them. Our new generation is starting to grow up and built their personality, values and beliefs can easily become aggressive or they can lose sense of differentiation between reality or fiction.

Media is destroying our culture. Assimilation of culture, norms and values are replaced by modernism. Western culture is influencing mind of masses. However, today's youth are more inclined to embracing the Western culture. This is mainly the influence of foreign television channels. These channels are destroying our culture because Western culture do not have any cultural or social values. Western Culture do not have family values as such and these foreign channels are influencing the youth to a great extent creating a threat to our culture.

The media can be used against us, depending upon how we use it individually. If we use media for our benefit then definitely it will never mislead us but mostly masses are mislead by media through various ways.
