Lollywood film "Zameer"
(Mubbashir Saleem., Lahore)
Zameer (the conscious,the inner
self, judge of any one's own character)is among the last films of waheed saheb
and it is the only film in which waheed saheb paired with rohi bano; a top of
the list performer of ptv of that time.this film has also the credit of not to
be a copy of any of the bollywood film(s),however it was directed by the
director iqbal akhtar.iqbal akhtar is famous for making charba or copy films of
bollywod.films nadan of nadeem and anhoni of waheed saheb;were the blind
imitation of bollywood films gopi of dilip kumar and raja jani of dharmendar and
hema malini.to produce an riginal film could not be expected from iqbal
akhtar.this film was based on novel sodai by ismat chuhtai.she is better
re-knowned as a notorious writer in urdu literature.but, her novel sodai is
unexpectedly a nice one.it does include any nudity.sodai is the depiction of an
irresponsible attitude of aristocratic/elite class in taking the bitter facts of
life as value less.she presents in this novel, that being living away fro the
life of an ordinary person;the rich men can't understand the jokes played to him
by his servants.that's a unique feature of this novel.every one gives him
respect, but the sentiments are to a far extent different of people of higher
society.the film is a hit one of it's time, but it did't prove as the novel
portrays the situation.ali saeb very professionally and deeply handled this
negative character.film also has a thrill element in it.rohi bano is also
beautifully exposed.but the film did't cast the impression,as the novel creates
in the mind of it's readers.it is opposite from the films made on heer
ranjha, laila majnu, umrao jaan ada and devdaas.but in presence of shortcomings
and defficiencies film is a classic one.it portrays the wild nature in character
of ali saheb, but did't throw light on the carelessness style of rich people.one
can find difficulty in deciding about that who is the hero ali saheb or waheed
saheb.it is the main attraction in this film.
