Acne - a dire dilemmafor many
adolescents. It contributes to low self-confidence among many individuals.
Stress, poor dietary habits, excessive amount of junk food, irregular sleeping
habits, hormonal imbalance, dehydration, dry skin, climatic conditions and
unnecessary dosage of makeup can lead to acne. However there’s always a solution
to this difficulty. No need to waste your money on high end products; when you
can whip up a natural remedy at home!
Turmeric Mask:
Take one tablespoon of gram flour (basan). One teaspoon of turmeric, one
tablespoon of milk, one tablespoon of olive oil or almond oil. Mix it well and
you can add more milk for the right consistency, a thick paste. Apply this mask,
wait for 15 minutes and then wash it with warm water. If you get a yellow stain
on your face so don’t stress and remove it with either a makeup remover or olive
oil.
Garlic:
Garlic is very beneficial for the health; it has an antibiotic which helps fight
acne. Consume two or three cloves of garlic a day and you’re good to go. However
you can make a paste of garlic and add yoghurt to neutralize it. This will burn
but it’s effective and you can even rub some garlic on your pimple, before you
sleep.
Mint paste:
Make a paste of mint leaves and dap it on your acne to minimize it.
Aspirin Mask:
Take your Aspirin, or even “Disperine”, crush it and add water. You will have a
white, thick paste and apply it on the affected area.
Multani Mitti mask:
Take some “Multani Mitti” and add some rose water, olive oil and honey in it.
Apply this clay mask for a clear skin. You can add lemon juice for the bleaching
properties.
Egg Whites:
Egg whites does wonders, especially in the summers. Separate your egg white and
apply it on your face with a brush or a spoon. Wash off after five minutes and
apply moisturizer.
Cinnamon and Honey paste:
Cinnamon and honey are the blessings of nature and both have antimicrobial
properties which diminish acne from the surface of your skin! Mix one teaspoon
of cinnamon with two table spoons of honey and wash it after several minutes.
Strawberries and Honey face mask:
Strawberries contain salicylic acid which helps prevent acne. It’s a mild acid
used in several products for the removal of acne. It helps to unblock pores and
also remove black heads and white heads. Mash three, freshly washed,
strawberries and mix them with honey. Apply it on your face and you’ll notice
the results in two weeks.
Aloe Vera Gel:
This beauty wonder is a miracle for your skin! Apply this on your pimples to
minimize them.
Tomatoes:
Slice a tomato and drain out its’ juice. In a bowl mix the juice, honey and
sugar well. Apply it after steaming your face, preferably.
Green Tea:
Boil your organic green tea leaves in water for five minutes. Strain the mixture
and set the leaves aside. Apply the mixture on your face with a cotton pad.
Papaya:
This magical fruit wipes out dead cells and excess fat from the surface of the
skin. It contains an effective enzyme which reduces inflammation and stops the
formation of pus. You can cut out some papaya (preferably raw papaya) add some
yoghurt and honey. Blend these three ingredients and you got your home-made face
pack! This face pack works wonders on skin and eliminates any sort of
pigmentation, also giving you a bright glow.
Tea tree oil:
Tea tree oil has strong, anti-bacterial properties which help fight acne. Now it
seems strange to apply oil on face; as a pimple prone skin usually has an oily
surface. However it’s not at all greasy and you just have to dilute it with
water, for application. It penetrates deeper in the skin sebum and diminishes
dead cells. Dilute tea tree oil with water; mix in the ratio 1:9 (oil and
water). Wash your face with warm water before applying this mixture; take your
cotton balls or cloth and dip it in the solution. Apply this on the acne prone
areas regularly.
Lemon:
This citrusy goodness is not only “nature’s brightener” but can be your savior
from acne. Lemon juice contains high level of vitamin C, citric acid and is an
astringent which helps body tissues to dry out and reduce, thus drying out the
pimple. You can combine one tablespoon of lemon juice, one tea spoon of turmeric
powder and
one table spoon of honey. Mix it well and apply it on face let it dry after 15
minutes. Wash it off and apply moisturizer.
The “DO’S AND DON’TS”:
Don’t touch your face and wash your hands properly. If you keep touching your
face; impurities will slather on the skin surface forming pigmentation.
Use an oil free facial cleanser, which should contain salicylic acid. It’s a key
ingredient in fighting acne and all sorts of pigmentation.
After washing your face always apply lotion or a moisturizer on the dry areas of
the skin. Pimples not always occur on an oily surface, excessive dryness causes
acne too.
Use these treatments at least once or twice a week. You will see the immediate
results.
