Understad The Real Needs Of Flood-Affected!
(Manzoor Hussain Rajper, Karachi)
The very hot topic for these
days is floods. People have different point of views for those affected. It is
due to that, if you see the situation from the distant area you have a different
picture instead of watching it from close. The persons looking at the situation
of those from big cities have different picture because they do not know the
basic system of the life of those who live in the villages and those affected
areas. During the Eid-ul-Fitar days and holy month Ramadan people were bit
excited for their help. But as the days passed that zeal has been reduced where
as those affected are not settled in their homes. I watched some of the programs
that were arranged by some TV Channels on Eid to entertain those affected. The
efforts of media channels are commendable but the style of assistance was
different.
Some news has been heard that there is going to be the misuse of the aid
provided by the Gov’t and other bodies. Why does this is going to be? I think
the difference in understanding the needs of those affected. If those people are
given the prepared foods and the raw material of food, so this is the fair
chance to those to sell that. Again, here is the need to understand the fair
need of those.
Some days ago, the affected people temporarily settled in Karachi camps
protested in front of the Sindh Assembly. Why do at last these is going to be,
when it has claimed that they are given every facility at camps. I heard some
nice comment from the opposition leader of Sindh assembly that, why do our
peoples are settled in camps? He added further that, Are they Afghan or
Bangladeshi refugees?
You must be finding the various controversial things that are going to be appear
on the flood-affected issues. I will recommend here the Gov’t and concerned
authorities to understand the needs of those affected that are compatible in
their nature. The issue is severe and the focus is appearing to be deviated. The
aid that whole world gave, and the NGOs, and other persons collected must be
spent on affected. The Authorities must consult with those and people from their
areas to understand the real needs of affected because even though our efforts
are a lot but they are one sided act and may be they are not compatible to their
life style.
