More Morning Show Blues

Enough has been said and
written about the mediocrity and illiteracy that Pakistan’s morning show hosts
proudly display on the idiot box, without a trace of shame. You can only shake
your head in disbelieve and wonder what on earth went wrong with us and with
Pakistan's media industry.
Something really deplorable happened on iqbal day during a many morning show.
The host told her viewers it was allama iqbal’s birthday(90 percent of showbiz
people pronounce Allama with a single l) and hurled a question at them. she said
she’d read out a line from one of iqbal’s famous couplets and the viewers would
have to tell her whether they knew the second line. the line she read was
“sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai”.For heaven’s sake, didn't the
producer, director or writer of the show know that it wasn’t allama iqbal’s
couplet? The said couplet perhaps came to the notice of these showbiz wallahs
through an Indian movie in which it was profusely used. No brownie points for
guessing the name of the show host…. A certain Wahidi it sure was.
So, we all can now figure out, on which point are we stand .If this will
continuously happen by our people on media, it will become the reason of insult
for us infront of the whole world.
