حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَجْمَعُ بَيْنَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ مِنْ قَتْلَى أُحُدٍ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ أَيُّهُمَا أَكْثَرُ أَخْذًا لِلْقُرْآنِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا أُشِيرَ لَهُ إِلَى أَحَدِهِمَا قَدَّمَهُ فِي اللَّحْدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا شَهِيدٌ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَمَرَ بِدَفْنِهِمْ فِي دِمَائِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَمْ يُغَسَّلُوا . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ جَابِرٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرُوِيَ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي صُعَيْرٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ ذَكَرَهُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدِ اخْتَلَفَ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الشَّهِيدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يُصَلَّى عَلَى الشَّهِيدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ:‏‏‏‏ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ الشَّافِعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَحْمَدُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ يُصَلَّى عَلَى الشَّهِيدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاحْتَجُّوا بِحَدِيثِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ صَلَّى عَلَى حَمْزَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ قَوْلُ:‏‏‏‏ الثَّوْرِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَبِهِ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ إِسْحَاق.

Urdu Translation

جابر بن عبداللہ رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ   نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم احد کے مقتولین میں سے دو دو آدمیوں کو ایک کپڑے میں ایک ساتھ کفناتے، پھر پوچھتے: ”ان میں قرآن کسے زیادہ یاد تھا؟“ تو جب آپ کو ان میں سے کسی ایک کی طرف اشارہ کر دیا جاتا تو آپ اسے لحد میں مقدم رکھتے اور فرماتے: ”قیامت کے روز میں ان لوگوں پر گواہ رہوں گا“۔ اور آپ نے انہیں ان کے خون ہی میں دفنانے کا حکم دیا اور ان کی نماز جنازہ نہیں پڑھی اور نہ ہی انہیں غسل ہی دیا۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- جابر کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، یہ حدیث زہری سے مروی ہے انہوں نے اسے انس سے اور انس نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے نیز یہ زہری سے عبداللہ بن ثعلبہ بن ابی صعیر کے واسطے سے بھی مروی ہے اور انہوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی ہے اور ان میں سے بعض نے اسے جابر کی روایت سے ذکر کیا، ۲- اس باب میں انس بن مالک سے بھی روایت ہے، ۳- اہل علم کا شہید کی نماز جنازہ کے سلسلے میں اختلاف ہے۔ بعض کہتے ہیں کہ شہید کی نماز جنازہ نہیں پڑھی جائے گی۔ یہی اہل مدینہ کا قول ہے۔ شافعی اور احمد بھی یہی کہتے ہیں، ۴- اور بعض کہتے ہیں کہ شہید کی نماز پڑھی جائے گی۔ ان لوگوں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی حدیث سے دلیل پکڑی ہے کہ آپ نے حمزہ رضی الله عنہ کی نماز پڑھی تھی۔ ثوری اور اہل کوفہ اسی کے قائل ہیں اور یہی اسحاق بن راہویہ بھی کہتے ہیں ۱؎۔

English Translation

Abdur-Rahman bin Ka'b bin Malik narrated that: Jabir bin Abdullah informed him that the Prophet had put two men together in one cloth from those who were killed at (the battle of) Uhud, then he said: Which of them memorized the more of the Qur'an? When one of them was indicated to him, he put him in the Lahd (first) and said: I am a witness for those people on the Day of Judgment. And he ordered that they be buried in their blood, and that they not be prayed over, nor washed.
