Islamic Events - Islam is the second biggest religion in terms of followers or population. There are several countries such as India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, etc. that have a Muslim population in millions. There are over 50 Islamic countries in the world. On the other side, Muslims are also in significant numbers in the non-Islamic states. In addition, Islam is also rapidly growing all over the world with number of followers are increasing.
The Islamic year begins from the Month of Muharram. However, on 10th Muharram” day of Ashura” is observed. Several key Islamic events happened on this day including the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (رضي الله عنه) and his companions.
On 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, Muslims celebrate Eid Milad un Nabi that is regarded as a day of birth of Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم). On 27th Rajab, Shab e Mairaj lies that is the remembrance of night on which Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) met Allah. However, Shab e Barat is observed on the night of 15th Shaban. The most holiest night for Muslims is Shab e Qadar, Muslims offer prayer on taaq raats (21,23, 25, 27, 29) to get the blessings of Allah. At the end of Ramadan Muslims celebrate Eid on 1st Shawwal. In Zulhijja Muslims offer Hajj and do Qurbani on Eid ul Adha to remember the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (عليه السلام) and his son Hazrat Ismaeel (عليه السلام). However, Hajj begins from 8th Zulhijja, whereas Arfa and Eid ul Adha lie on 9th and 10th Zulhijja respectively.
