حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مُوسَى الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي النَّضْرِ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى أَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ يَعُودُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَوَجَدْتُ عِنْدَهُ سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَدَعَا أَبُو طَلْحَةَ إِنْسَانًا يَنْزِعُ نَمَطًا تَحْتَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ لَهُ سَهْلٌ:‏‏‏‏ لِمَ تَنْزِعُهُ ؟ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لِأَنَّ فِيهِ تَصَاوِيرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ قَالَ فِيهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا قَدْ عَلِمْتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ سَهْلٌ:‏‏‏‏ أَوَلَمْ يَقُلْ:‏‏‏‏ إِلَّا مَا كَانَ رَقْمًا فِي ثَوْبٍ ؟ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ بَلَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَكِنَّهُ أَطْيَبُ لِنَفْسِي ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.

Urdu Translation

عبیداللہ بن عبداللہ بن عتبہ کہتے ہیں کہ   وہ ابوطلحہ انصاری رضی الله عنہ کی عیادت کرنے ان کے گھر گئے، تو میں نے ان کے پاس سہل بن حنیف رضی الله عنہ کو پایا، ابوطلحہ رضی الله عنہ نے ایک آدمی کو وہ چادر نکالنے کے لیے بلایا جو ان کے نیچے تھی، سہل رضی الله عنہ نے ان سے کہا: کیوں نکال رہے ہیں؟ انہوں نے کہا: اس لیے کہ اس میں تصویریں ہیں، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس سلسلے میں جو کچھ فرمایا ہے اسے آپ جانتے ہیں، سہل رضی الله عنہ نے کہا: آپ نے تو یہ بھی فرمایا ہے: سوائے اس کپڑے کے جس میں نقش ہو ابوطلحہ نے کہا: آپ نے تو یہ فرمایا ہے لیکن یہ میرے لیے زیادہ اچھا ہے ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے۔

English Translation

Narrated Abu An-Nadr: From 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abdullah bin 'Utbah, that he entered upon Abu Talhah Al-Ansari to pay him a visit (while he was ill), and he found Sahl bin Hunaif with him. He said: Abu Talhah called for someone to remove a sheet that was under him. Sahl said to him: 'Why did you remove it?' He replied: 'Because it contains images on it, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said about them what you know.' Sahl said: 'Do he not say: Except for markings on a garment?' He said: 'Yes, but this is better to me.' [Abu 'Eisa said:] This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
