حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وحَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ رَجَاءٍ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ، قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ، يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْقِرَاءَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالسُّنَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي السُّنَّةِ سَوَاءً فَأَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ كَانُوا فِي الْهِجْرَةِ سَوَاءً فَأَكْبَرُهُمْ سِنًّا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا يُؤَمُّ الرَّجُلُ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا يُجْلَسُ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ قَالَ مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ:‏‏‏‏ أَقْدَمُهُمْ سِنًّا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَمَالِكِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَمْرِو بْنِ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدِيثُ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَى هَذَا عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ أَحَقُّ النَّاسِ بِالْإِمَامَةِ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ وَأَعْلَمُهُمْ بِالسُّنَّةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ صَاحِبُ الْمَنْزِلِ أَحَقُّ بِالْإِمَامَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا أَذِنَ صَاحِبُ الْمَنْزِلِ لَغَيْرِهِ فَلَا بَأْسَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكَرِهَهُ بَعْضُهُمْ وَقَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ السُّنَّةُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ صَاحِبُ الْبَيْتِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ:‏‏‏‏ وَقَوْلُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا يُؤَمُّ الرَّجُلُ فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا يُجْلَسُ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا أَذِنَ فَأَرْجُو أَنَّ الْإِذْنَ فِي الْكُلِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَمْ يَرَ بِهِ بَأْسًا إِذَا أَذِنَ لَهُ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بِهِ.

Urdu Translation

ابومسعود انصاری رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”لوگوں کی امامت وہ کرے جو اللہ کی کتاب ( قرآن ) کا سب سے زیادہ علم رکھنے والا ہو، اگر لوگ قرآن کے علم میں برابر ہوں تو جو سب سے زیادہ سنت کا جاننے والا ہو وہ امامت کرے، اور اگر وہ سنت کے علم میں بھی برابر ہوں تو جس نے سب سے پہلے ہجرت کی ہو وہ امامت کرے، اگر وہ ہجرت میں بھی برابر ہوں تو جو عمر میں سب سے بڑا ہو وہ امامت کرے، آدمی کے دائرہ اقتدار میں اس کی امامت نہ کی جائے اور نہ کسی آدمی کے گھر میں اس کی مخصوص جگہ پر اس کی اجازت کے بغیر بیٹھا جائے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابومسعود رضی الله عنہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ابوسعید، انس بن مالک، مالک بن حویرث اور عمرو بن سلمہ رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اور اہل علم کا اسی پر عمل ہے، ان کا کہنا ہے کہ لوگوں میں امامت کا حقدار وہ ہے جو اللہ کی کتاب ( قرآن ) اور سنت کا سب سے زیادہ علم رکھتا ہو۔ نیز وہ کہتے ہیں کہ گھر کا مالک خود امامت کا زیادہ مستحق ہے، اور بعض نے کہا ہے: جب گھر کا مالک کسی دوسرے کو اجازت دیدے تو اس کے نماز پڑھانے میں کوئی حرج نہیں، لیکن بعض لوگوں نے اسے بھی مکروہ جانا ہے، وہ کہتے ہیں کہ سنت یہی ہے کہ گھر کا مالک خود پڑھائے ۱؎، ۴- احمد بن حنبل نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے فرمان: ”آدمی کے دائرہ اقتدار میں اس کی امامت نہ کی جائے اور نہ اس کے گھر میں اس کی مخصوص نشست پر اس کی اجازت کے بغیر بیٹھا جائے“ کے بارے میں کہتے ہیں کہ جب وہ اجازت دیدے تو میں امید رکھتا ہوں کہ یہ اجازت مسند پر بیٹھنے اور امامت کرنے دونوں سے متعلق ہو گی، انہوں نے اس کے نماز پڑھانے میں کوئی حرج نہیں جانا کہ جب وہ اجازت دیدے۔

English Translation

Abu Mas'ud narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: The one who recites most of the Book of Allah is to lead the people (in prayers). If they are equal in recitation, then the most knowledgeable in the Sunnah among them. If they are equal regarding the Sunnah, then the earliest of them to emigrate. If they are equal in their emigration then the eldest among them. And a man is not to be led in prayer in the place of his authority, and his spot of esteem in his home is not to be sat on without his permission.
