حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سِنَانٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَجُلٌ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ الرَّجُلُ يَعْمَلُ الْعَمَلَ فَيُسِرُّهُ فَإِذَا اطُّلِعَ عَلَيْهِ أَعْجَبَهُ ذَلِكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَهُ أَجْرَانِ أَجْرُ السِّرِّ وَأَجْرُ الْعَلَانِيَةِ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ الْأَعْمَشُ، وَغَيْرُهُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرْسَلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَصْحَابُ الْأَعْمَشِ لَمْ يَذْكُرُوا فِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ وَقَدْ فَسَّرَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا اطُّلِعَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَعْجَبَهُ فَإِنَّمَا مَعْنَاهُ أَنْ يُعْجِبَهُ ثَنَاءُ النَّاسِ عَلَيْهِ بِالْخَيْرِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لِقَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْتُمْ شُهَدَاءُ اللَّهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ فَيُعْجِبُهُ ثَنَاءُ النَّاسِ عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لِهَذَا لِمَا يَرْجُو بِثَنَاءِ النَّاسِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمَّا إِذَا أَعْجَبَهُ لِيَعْلَمَ النَّاسُ مِنْهُ الْخَيْرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لِيُكْرَمَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ وَيُعَظَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَهَذَا رِيَاءٌ ،‏‏‏‏ وَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ:‏‏‏‏ إِذَا اطُّلِعَ عَلَيْهِ فَأَعْجَبَهُ رَجَاءَ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ بِعَمَلِهِ فَيَكُونُ لَهُ مِثْلُ أُجُورِهِمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَهَذَا لَهُ مَذْهَبٌ أَيْضًا.

Urdu Translation

ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ایک آدمی نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! آدمی نیک عمل کرتا ہے پھر اسے چھپاتا ہے لیکن جب لوگوں کو اس کی اطلاع ہو جاتی ہے تو وہ اسے پسند کرتا ہے؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”اس کے لیے دو اجر ہیں ایک نیکی کے چھپانے کا اور دوسرا اس کے ظاہر ہو جانے کا“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن غریب ہے۔ ۲- اعمش وغیرہ نے اس حدیث کو «حبيب بن أبي ثابت عن أبي صالح عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم» کی سند سے مرسلاً روایت کیا ہے، اور اعمش کے شاگردوں نے اس میں «عن أبي هريرة» کا ذکر نہیں کیا، ۳- بعض اہل علم نے اس حدیث کی تفسیر کرتے ہوئے فرمایا: اس کے نیک عمل کے ظاہر ہو جانے پر لوگوں کے پسند کرنے کا مطلب یہ ہے کہ لوگوں کی تعریف اور ثناء خیر کو وہ پسند کرتا ہے اس لیے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ہے کہ ”تم لوگ زمین پر اللہ کے گواہ ہو“، یقیناً اسے لوگوں کی تعریف پسند آتی ہے کیونکہ اسے لوگوں کی تعریف سے آخرت کے خیر کی امید ہوتی ہے، البتہ اگر کوئی لوگوں کے جان جانے پر اس لیے خوش ہوتا ہے کہ اس کے نیک عمل کو جان کر لوگ اس کی تعظیم و تکریم کریں گے تو یہ ریا و نمود میں داخل ہو جائے گا، ۴- اور بعض اہل علم نے اس کی تفسیر یہ کی ہے کہ لوگوں کے جان جانے پر وہ اس لیے خوش ہوتا ہے کہ نیک عمل میں لوگ اس کی اقتداء کریں گے اور اسے بھی ان کے اعمال میں اجر ملے گا تو یہ خوشی بھی مناسب ہے۔

English Translation

Abu Hurairah narrated that A man said: O Messenger of Allah! A man does a deed and conceals it, but when it is discovered that he did it, he is happy about that. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: 'He receives two rewards: A reward in its concealment, and a reward in its publicity.'
